I have finally convinced my DBF to stay at a value resort, (he thought we may as well stay off site as he doesnt think the values look very nice)-now we have to choose which one! I think I am right in saying pop is best location wise? How about the rooms, has one hotel been refurbished more recently. any help much appreciated - I don't want us to get there and my DBF say 'i told you so'!!!
THANKS!

 Many have a favorite and so you'll get lots of opinions!

ASMusic has just completed room refurbishments, so that is always nice :)

I like the POP..and it is the only value we've stayed in, becasue of the Lake. With a lake view and seeing IllumiNations from our room it cannot be beat. Like the food court, not crazy about the gift shop, though many love it :)

It did take time for POP to grow on me as it was our first value...the icons are over the top for me, so we request a lake view as there are not as many on the back sides of the buildings...and love the lake view...

The walk around the lake is really pretty and Generation Gap Bridge is so nice...there is a thread with POP photos that might help.

We like 4th floor in Tramp building 3 IllumiNations view or Jukebox building 2 pool view.

You'll get lots of great reviews, both sides :)

Have fun planning!

We've stayed at POP and All Star Movies. We *highly preferred POP. It felt more "Disney", transportation was not shared (AS is shared with all three of the AS's). It also...although I can't really pinpoint specific examples...it just felt cleaner, more spacious and the staff was friendlier.

We have stayed in them all and Pop while larger, is newer, fresher, and has a better layout in my opinion. Outside of the DVC resorts we always go for POP. My dad (65 years old) says Pop is kinda like a mini vegas with action going on all the time:lmao:

If you're going to be using the buses, choose Pop. The All Stars share buses. Pop doesn't share buses and has the best bus service.

If you'll have a car, then that doesn't matter.

My Favorite value is All Star Music.

Pop has 2,800 rooms
All Star Music has less than 1900 rooms including the Suites.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

All of the rooms at All Star Music have been refurbished.
The outside of the buildings have also been touched up and the main pool was just refubished. Everything looks bright and clean.

See this thread:

We stayed at ASMu this past June and loved it. As mentioned in earlier posts, it has just gone through refurbishment and is amazingly clean. We we amazed at how clean everything was there. You could not walk anywhere throughout the resort that you would not find someone cleaning, emptying trash, picking up something on the ground etc... Of course, you see this pretty much anywhere you go at Disney.

The greenery is pretty awesome. It has much more greenery than the other All Star hotels and I really enjoyed that.

I think you will have a wonderful time.

The rooms have been newly painted, they have new carpet and new furniture, bedding and curtains and the curtains for the tub are bowed thus giving a little more elbow room.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

A word (or two)about BUSES :

During our stay a couple of weeks ago (September 12-19) All Star Music only shared a bus when returning from AK and DTD.
All of the buses going to the parks went directly to parks after pick up even when the bus was less than half full.
My friend and I decided in the early afternoon of one of our Disney MGM Studio days to head back to ASMu for a dip in the pool. We were the only ones on the bus that trip!

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot, MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING

To me Bus Sharing at the All Stars is really a non issue.

In the mornings during Park opening hours each All Star usually has a dedicated bus.
During mid day it is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes it is all 3 but often Sports and Movies share and Music has it's own bus back. Each of the All Stars usually has it's own dedicated bus back from the MK.
That is a big plus. It seems like the Music bus stop usually has the shortest of the three All Star bus lines.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.

(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

Have fun at Disney!

I agree with all of this except the "felt more "Disney" comment. Buzz and Woody and all of the Disney movie icons seem more like Disney than cell phones, bowling pins, and computers!
Without small children, I would pick POP over ASMO, though.

All Values are fun. I've stayed at each and enjoy the icons, stairwells and many touches that make each one unique. Pop has the advantage of being newer, and probably better designed, with some very nice walking/jogging opportunities. Pop has the best food court and variety. At their prices, how could one go wrong!?

:cheer2:

I've only stayed at Sports but have been very happy there each time. I've walked around Music and the grounds look very nice. As far as bus sharing, Sports is the first of the All Stars and gets picked up/dropped off first. But, in my experience, it was very rare that we ever even shared a bus with either Movies or Music.

I'll be at Pop 11/3-7 - longest Ive stayed at Pop
I have spent a few weekends there but not 4 nights
Planning on doing the parks commando so will only be at the resort to sleep/shower (and hopefully a DISmeet or 2)

We are staying at the ASM in early December and have one of those family suite rooms (the only way to go with 2 teenagers!!). Are they in just one section/? Or is there a choice of which section to stay in. Which section has a good view?

Thanks

Helen :coffee:

I say Movies if you want all that is truly Disney!!!!

Everyone has a diffrent opinion but to our family All Star Movies is Disney and it is our favorite resort. We stayed at POP and to us the wait for busses was much longer even though they don't share a bus, but I am sure others have had diffrent experiences.
