My husband's friends teach and they almost always vacation July-early August time frame. What's the best UY to recommend for them? My hubby teaches as well and we have an August UY. With points expiring at the end of July, I probably would have chosen a different UY had I known. For example, we have 307 points that expire at the end of July this year. If we take a Daytona/Orlando trip, I have to be careful to book my Dis stay, as those points won't work in early Aug. I'm also not up on the new banking rules, so I thought I'd throw this out there and get your thoughts.

Thanks so much!

It may depend on what part of the country you are in. April since there is no May use year is good for teachers who get done in May. For those who get finished in June, June is a good month.

Actually August is the best time to use those points. That way if you have to cancel, you still have a whole year to use them or eight months to bank them. Using them in July is dangerous because if you cancel, you can't bank them anymore and chances of using them are slim.

Unless of course you have points left over in your account, then you need to use them up by the end of July. But it's still early enough for you to bank them so you shouldn't have to worry about that either.

Thank HBC! We were lucky with our contracts. When we purchased, my 120 pt contract had all 05, all 06 and all 07 points coming. The 270 contract had 217 06 and all 07 points coming. That's why we're in the situation of having points that expire that we can't bank. :cool1:

Again, thanks for the information. :flower3: Seems to be a lot of buzz about the changes with UY, but since we only purchased about 6 months ago, I don't have much of an opinion. Just gives me more time to plan a vacation and bank if I need to!
