in another thread, Doctor P mentioned something about use years that seem to be the more difficult ones for DVD to sell based on the history of which use years seem to sell out last at resorts.

for those long-time DVC veterans, does anyone happen to remember/know which use years did sell out last for each resort?

OKW?
BWV?
VWL? (although VWL doesn't seem to actually be sold out)

I don't think there is any correlation. Many people, like me when I bought, have no idea of the significance of use year. I would be interested in seeing hard facts, but I don't think that we will see any real pattern.

I would think December HAS to be sold out last! I don't have any basis for that thought, except that resales with a December use year seem to abound on the resale board, and I personally avoid them like the plague. As a newbie I agree with Rich that I had no clue about use years, but I was offered Feb, Aug, and Dec, I instinctively turned down December. After 6 years, I haven't changed my opinion, although I do have contracts in Aug, Feb, and March. As I said, that's just my very biased opinion;)

We have Aug and Oct use years. They work out great since my dh has to post his vacation weeks for the whole next year at the end of the preceeding year. and we usually vacation in the fall. We are going this year in Oct so I used my 2003 and borrowed some 2004 pots on our Oct. Will have til end of Jan to bank my Aug 2003 pts and will know dh vacation weeks by then. I do know when I was going to do a VWL add to our OKW contract they didnt have Aug or Oct use years left and this was before the $10 MB start.

Cruella, we got a December use year when we 1st bought at OKW. Our 2 add-ons are also December use years. We have never had any kind of issue with our use year being in December. I don't think use year matters a bit for point usage. It may matter for some and their vacation planning, other then that, I see no difference between use years at all.
I wonder if the mad dash to use points in 2042 will prove me wrong? My guess here is that I'll be limited to using my last years points (with none banked) in December 2041, which is a great month to visit WDW. They can't oversell a month so all the points sold for a month has to correspond to room nights in each resort. What I don't use, I'll lose unless January 2042 could be used to clean up unused points by all members. Then again, with DVC extending our ownership by reselling me my points, this could be a non-issue but at 84, I don't think I'll care.........spruce

We had August, which was ideal, we usually take the family trip in mid-August. We sold those, and switched to BCV, and got June........ June is perfect, since we are summer visitors. I would think June would be popular with families with kids. But not popular with those who avoid WDW in the summer......... so it is pretty balanced?

We have June and I kind of wish we did not for the reason mentioned above. We usually visit fall (oct, Nov) and/or spring(apr, may). A Sept use year would have been better. BUT, this year we are planning a BIG trip and needed all kinds of points for July so it worked out VERY well this one time. If it goes well, we may want to repeat in the future and then June will be ideal. I guess use year matters not, as you can see, things change.
