Which TS restaurant should we cut?

I need help! We need to cut three of the TS meals we have booked for our upcoming trip. We have decided not to purchase the dining plan. We are hoping to save a little money by cooking in our villa. We are a group of 7: me, DH, DD6, DD4, DD2, my mom, and my dad. My mom and dad have not been to WDW since 1980. My DH and I recently purchased DVC points and we plan to visit WDW at least once each year.

Here are the places we are eating:
Chef Mickey's (dinner on arrival night)
Rainforest Cafe at AK
Crystal Palace (dinner)
'50s Prime Time (dinner)
Sci-Fi Dine-In (lunch)
Kona Cafe (lunch)
CRT (dinner)
Coral Reef (dinner)

Here are the places where we have ADRs, but are considering canceling:

San Angel Inn (lunch)
We love the atmosphere in these restaurant. We're wondering if it's still possible to experience the atmosphere without eating here.

Teppan Edo (lunch)
We've never eaten here. We think it might be entertaining for everyone in our party.

Chefs de France (dinner)
I'll be honest...the main reason we want to eat here is to see Remy.

'Ohana (dinner)
I've heard great things about this restaurant. I'm wondering if the kids will get more out of the games when they are a little bit older. One reason we are not on the dining plan is because we want to be able to share entrees/order appetizers only. That isn't possible at 'Ohana.

Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch)
We love lunch at this restaurant. It would be hard to skip it this time, but I know that we'll be back!

So, which three of those TS would you cut?

I haven't been to Rainforest Cafe at AK, but is it similar to other Rainforest Cafes across the country? I never considered going there because there are others near home. Never thought of it as uniquely Disney.

Personally I would cut the Teppan Edo, since you haven't eaten there you don't know if you will like it or not.
And since you haven't been in a while it would be nice to revisit what you do.

Next I would cut Sci-Fi or 50's Primetime. Both are good but really doing only one of these is good.

Another thing to think about is Rainforest Cafe. JMO but it isn't that grand with comparision of some of the others you have on your list.

So those are the 3 I would get rid of.

To answer the part about the group that you were thinking about cancelling....

I would cut 'Ohana first. We've only been there once and was not impressed with the food.....but I think it was more the rudeness of the other guests that brought the entire experience way down. We sat near the aisle where the 'games' were....not the best spot in the world but we were in disney so it wasn't like we were looking for a quiet, peaceful dinner. The big problem was when the parents would lean over me and my plate of food to take pictures.....I honestly can't even tell you all the times that someone did this or moved a chair at our table or leaned against one of us....just so that they could get a picture. Then...wishes. Now, we weren't right next to the window but only had a couple tables between us.....wishes starts and we're enjoying it...I mean, it isn't the best view in the world but still nice to see.....then all of a sudden, people just start walking over and literally stand right in front of us? Plus the service was very slow and disjointed.....all this combined is enough for us not to go there again.

As for San Angel.....for the ambiance, just take the boat ride. So I would cut that one too.

Maybe Tappan Edo next and be sure to keep LTT for lunch....one of our favorites. Plus, if you want to see Remy, keep Chef's de France.

Thank you for your opinions!

I didn't think about all of the things that could be problematic at 'Ohana.

I think you're right about the boat ride in the Mexico pavillion. I think that San Angel will probably be cut.

I think I will keep LTT. Is it worth keeping Chefs for a character? :confused3

I would cut San Angel INN and Chefs de France ( remy is cute but I wasn't that impressed with the food for the price). I would also consider cutting rainforest or Sci FI before cutting Ohanas or Teppan Edo. These are two of our favorites. We have only ate at Rainforest once and was not impressed.
good Luck

I would cut San Angel first. We've eaten at all but about 5 TS at WDW and this one is at the very bottom of the list of the ones we have tried.

Next I would cut Chefs de France. We do enjoy lunch here but have been underwhelmed with the 3 dinners we have done. You already have a few character meals.

I know it's on your list to keep but third one I would cut is Rainforest Cafe. It's a chain with locations everywhere or you could eat at it on a future trip. The food is mediocre and overpriced.

I would skip Teppan Edo. The food is good but I think the entrees are over priced. I would not pay OOP there but that is just my opinion.

I would keep Chefs but I think Lunch might be a something to think about. I actually prefer the lunch menu:goodvibes

We went to the Rainforest and it was just ok...you can make it for another trip. If you are going to Chef de France to just see Remy I would drop it b/c he is not granted to show up but if you are going to eat the food go but just to see Remy I would drop it. And Chef Mickey dinner is so NOT worth it...food was horrible but if you are going for the characters then go. We ate at CM for dinner and we left still hunger b/c the food was bad and we had to get room service b/c my son was still hunger. We are trying CM again b/c my son wants to see the characters so we will try CM breakfast.

I really do appreciate all of the input.

My mom requested to eat at Rainforest but I do agree with many of the comments. We do not have one nearby and the kids do find it entertaining, but I have never thought much of the food. I may try to convince her to drop that one.

I think I may also be leaning toward getting rid of San Angel Inn and Chefs de France.

Now, if only I could make up my mind about Teppan Edo and 'Ohana. I don't know why I'm reluctant to let them go...especially since I have not eaten at either.

I would get rid of San angel Inn.

The atmosphere is awesome but the food (IMO) is only okay! I found the desert to be aweful:sick:

I would cut Ohanas. We thought the meat was dry, tough and tasteless. The service was very poor.

I would definately cut Chefs de France.
Remy is adorable, but only about a minute and a half of the experience.

You might want to try going to Rain Forest Cafe at an off time and just getting appetizers (they have really good nachos) or a dessert (VOLCANO!) if your mom wants to experience the atmosphere but you are not crazy about the food....this way there won't be too much of a wait and you can save some money for better meals!

We ate at both Teppan Edo and Ohana in December. I would DEFINATELY cancel Ohana. The food was terrible. The salad was soggy, the dumplings were DRY and tastless, the noodles were gluey and the meats were all the same, dry and smokey. It took hours of walking around to feel better after that meal.
Everything at Teppan Edo was excellent...the food, the service, the chef...we loved it.

So, which three of those TS would you cut?

I would cut San Angel Inn. Like others have suggested take the boat trip and do some window shopping and it will be great.

I would also cut Liberty Tree Tavern. It is okay but not a must for us anymore. I miss the characters at dinner.

Now out of the ones you said you want to keep I would drop '50s Prime Time (dinner) and Rain Forest Cafe.

At the AK, you can go into the gift shop at Rain Forest and from there make a trip to the restroom inside the dining area. Take your time so you can experience a thunderstorm and crazy animals. It is not quite the same as a meal there but certainly a lot less expensive.

As for San Angel.....for the ambiance, just take the boat ride. So I would cut that one too.

Sure, but then you have to put up with those annoying 3 Amigos.:rotfl2:

Personally, I find just wandering around the shops in the Mexico pavilion to have great ambiance.

That is a great idea!

I would cut San Angel first. Overpriced and the food is not that great. Coral Reef is a close second. We ate there in October for lunch (family of 6). The atmosphere is cool but with larger parties you are seated in the back. As a result, the view is just ok. The food was ok but we felt it was overpriced for what you got. If we weren't on the DDP we would not eat there again.
