I'm planning a trip to WDW for Sept. '08 and am getting a few quotes from some WDW travel agencies (Dreams Unlimited and Small World Vacations). Has anyone used these travel agencies? What were your experiences? Was the communication good between you and the agents?
I have been having the darndest time trying to book the vacation through the Disney website! Maybe I will just call them...

I use Small World Vacations. I went with them originally because there was a phone number I could call to discuss my vacation and I had A LOT of questions. I know email is just as good but I had some special needs and traveling with extended family that I felt more comfortable having someone to speak to. I was very happy with their service and have stayed with them over the years as I have gotten to know my travel agent well and she knows what I need / want.

That being said I have heard great things about Dreams Unlimited but all of their communication is by email, which is fine. Just so that you know in case you are more of a phone person then an email person

We are using Dreams Unlimited for our January visit, and so far I have been very happy. I have done everything through e-mail, which is what I prefer, but I know they have a phone number listed. My agent is Beth Czada, and any time I have sent her an e-mail with questions, she has gotten back to me within an hour or less.

We used to do all of our own arrangements and then my grandmother was dealing with Alzheimers and vacation planning just went out the window. We used a travel agent called "Build A Better Mouse Trip" - www.buildabettermousetrip.com - and they did a great job. In fact, we've used them twice - once for booking a Disney hotel and this last June when we stayed in a condo at Windsor Hills. They custom provided touring plans and made our dining reservations. Between the two trips, we've used them for Disney, Universal, & SeaWorld and I didn't have any problems at all.

Mouse Fan Travel, the prefered agency of AllEars.net and one of the official sponsors of Mousefest. I've used them on several occasions and couldn't be happier with the service they provide. Several times they've provided me with quotes for on-property stays that other agencies couldn't match. :thumbsup2

Mouse Ear Vacations

I sent you a PM. :)

We just went in Aug. (15-24) and we used Lisa from Magical Vacations. She was great, and will do all of our future trips to the world. Good luck !! :thumbsup2

I know people who work for one of the OP's asked-about agencies, Small World Travel. Both of the agencies asked about are very reputable, and if you ever have trouble with communication with a particular agent, the company can quickly switch you to someone who works better with you.

Believe me, it is an honor and dream come true for these agents to have the jobs they have, they are not easy jobs to get, and they are very serious professionals at what they do. Some of them have years under their belts as agents before they even start with these online specialty agencies, and they are all definitely Disney experts, and care about making dreams come true for clients.

Disney's website is the pits, I agree! No sense dealing with them, online or over the phone, when for the same price you can get truly personalized service.

DreamsUnlimitedTravel.com is great, especially Dorothy Bond (who is extremely patient and responsive considering the large amount of questions I always fire at her via email).

I used to book all the trips myself, but then tried them last year for a big trip for my parents, with tons of extra tickets, reservations and more....and she didn't mess up ANY details.

One of my friends just used Dorothy for a trip with her family and had a great experience, and I'm actually working with her and her company now for a GF trip later this month. Considering THEY do all the work and cost nothing extra (and in many cases SAVE you money) - I highly recommend their company!

Hope that helps you...

Chris :)

I also vote for Dreams Unlimited. Our agent Tracy Whipple was outstanding. Each and every time I had a question she responded within a day. She made sure everything was set up and included a few "suprises" along the way we didn't know about like making sure Disney knew about birthdays. We even got a stateroom gift from them for the group booking. I would definetly use them again.

Tracy if you read this...

Thanks for making our trip MAGICAL!

I book through Walt Disney Travel Company but you have to call to book your
trip. I also had trouble online. 407-363-0029. It is very easy to do.
I have never used a TA to book my WDW trips, I have always did it myself through WDTC. It is also easy to change things on your package if you change your mind. You can pay on your package monthly if you like or
just pay one lump sum ( paid in full) 45 days before your trip.
This will be our 3 trip though WDTC and have not had any problems.
They are very good at sending all of your paperwork quickly and easy to
get a hold of on the phone.:thumbsup2
You have to call a TA and it is no difference than calling directly to WDTC.
They always have answered my call withing less that 5 mins. and it done, there is no waiting around to
get a call back from
from a TA, WDTC takes care of it right then and there.

I used Dreams Unlimited before and was pleased enough to recommend it to friends who have all had good experiences also.

We are coming from Austria and you can't imagine how hard it is to get any information about WDW here in Europe. Even the Disney Websites in Europe (except UK) only refer to Disneyland Paris, as if they wouldn't be interested to have us in Florida. Anyways you can only book a few hotels and few packages via local travel agencies but the agents there usually don't have a clue what kind of trip they are selling.

So we used Small World Vacations for our booking and LeighMcCarthy really is the best. For general planning questions it is better to have someone to talk to on the phone, which was a pleasure each time. She really helped us a lot in booking the right package and hotel for our stay and accompanied each step with her advice. (She even prevented us to spend money on things we would not need i.e premiung and platinum packages). They even make the ADRs for you.

And best of all she saved us $ 700 on our package in comparison to the rate on the Disney page.

Well we are going in December but up to know they really offer everything we need.
:goodvibes
