Which ticket is best for us?

Going for 10 nights next trip---not AP holders --planning to make the most of 5 PH+ tickets with just one plus to be used for one day at Water Park but am intrigued with the idea of going in and out freely for the whole trip like an AP or UPH holder....

How much more would such freedom cost?
3 adults (disney will be defining my 10 year old as an adult guest next trip) and 1 child.

I am starting with some unknowns and assumptions that I need expert thoughts about:
We check in late on day 1 and don't plan to go to parks on day 11 so I was hoping they would let us use the UPH for 9 days (8 nights?) Days 2 thru 10...
Would they let us drop the first and last day this way?
Would they give us the 10% off the advance price or the gate UPH prices?

That would be either $1402 or $1343 if off the advance prices assuming the DVC 10% discount applies to the totals on this website---

We would buy 5 day PH+ in advance so that is currently $973 but we would have unused plus at the end. (worth about $30) and we would have to pay to get into Disney Quest which is possible that is an added $125.. I get a total of $1098) We would probably not go to a park and DQ or a Park and water park in the same day...we do those nontheme park activities and would ride boats, minigolf, resort hangout, poolhop, etc on the 4 non theme park days....

So for less than $80 additional per person we could have free reign to drop in for a few hours of theme parks/water parks/ DQ?PI on those 4 days we would not otherwise be able or plan to do if I calculate this correctly....

Assuming we have no plans to leave WDW property for any length of time what do people know and think about this comparison?

You would make your decisions on how many days are you going into the parks. If you want to be an AP holder then will you make another trip in the next 12 months and do you want to go to the water parks. If this is the trip I would go with 7 day hopper plus passes . This would be my choice if im in your shoes.These days dont expire and extras are forever.
I go 2 or 3 times a year and after gathering up alot of extras Me and DW get AP passes but the children still get 7 day hopper plus passes .We love going to the water parks and adult night out downtown.

Personaly I would suggest going for the Premium AP. Around ten day mark you end up spending the same as you would for an AP anyway, plus you get an excuse to go back to Disney before the passes expire. Not to mention the other perks AP pass holders get.

AP is out--not going back in 12 months or less.

7 day PH + and we would still have to pay to go to DQ so that is going to be $1294...for less than $30 more per person we would get to go to DQ and WP and theme parks as much or as little as we would like for the 9 days---But we would not have 3 plus options left over on every ticket for the next trip...but the next trip is not for at least a year-so how much is it worth to sit on 12 plus options for that length of time...

If we get UPH and only go to the parks 7 days we will have spent around $48-50 per person per day (depends on which price it is) with nothing for the next times--we could go to DQ and WP the other two days just as if we only had 7 day passes...If we get 7 day PH+ and use all the 7 days we will have spent $46 per person per day in the parks but amortized over the whole 9 days that is $36 per person per day for admissions but two of the 9 days the theme parks are off limits...but we will have 2-3 plus options left. Compare this to the 5 day PH+ with with a $30 per per per day cost but 4 days of no theme parks and only on or no pluses left at the end....And will need to have paid to go to DQ and only gone once...If we go with the UPH it is like we paid $37 -38 per person per day for the trip...and may end up doing exactly the same thing for only a buck or two more a day per person (up to $8 compared to the 5 day deal) but the freedom to do a lot more for each of the whole 9 nine days.....

I have always been skeptical about the utility of the UPH--but in our case I can't see what is really wrong with it...help me if I am not seeing this clearly--I don't mind being talked out of UPH's...i have always had Park hoppers and find that once I enter a park I feel like I need to get my $50 worth..I am reluctanct to just go in for a few hours....with the UPH am I truly going to feel more free to take a break to scoot around on a watermouse- or lie by the pool---or will I feel more obliged to be doing something...will the forced NON PARK days be more freeing ultimately???

But that's just me...

not sure how you can justify the PAP or AP for us...we won't be back to use it again so it is as useless as a UPH when we leave and it does not get us into DQ does it??? So that makes it less useful than UPH plus it is already not just a little more expensive than the UPH it is a lot more...according to the prices on wdwinfo.com for UPH--so I don't understand at all where you are coming from...unless you just want to give Disney more of your money than you need to.

I believe the Premium Annual Pass will get you into Disney Quest. However, if the 10 day UPH is slightly less expensive, I would go with that and have them take off the first day when you check in and last day when you leave (and save even a little more.) Everyone's situation is different with this. Since you know you won't be back and it sounds like you want to go to Disney Quest, the UPH may be the way to go. (We go to Disney Quest at least 3 times per trip so it's not a bad choice for us.) I used it for our last trip and it worked out pretty well. Not sure if I would buy UPH again though because we inevitabely always do end up coming back! If you are absolutely sure you aren't going to be back, I would go with it and enjoy the freedom!

The DVC discount for UPH cannot be purchased in advance. Figure the discount from the gate price. At a DVC resort they will allow us to drop first or last day ... and they have always dropped both for me when asked. We've done this many times when frineds have accompanied us to WDW.

The UPH will be cheaper and will allow you the freedom to use the parks as you wish, plus the benefit of admission to all other WDW venues without additional cost. If you know you will be staying onsite, the UPH affords great flexibility. If you're planning to go to off-site venues, the value is diminished.

We're a family of 5 our sons are 17, 15 & 12 (according to WDW all adults) and this year we purchased annual passes (not including water parks, PI or DQ).

I've read somewhere that if you visit the parks more then 8 days they more than pay for themselves.

We just returned (8/26) from a 10 day stay and LOVED the freedom to go in and out of the parks-using pass to cut thur EPCOT to catch the monirail or hitting a park just for one last ride on Mission Space or Rock & Roller Coster is pretty cool.

You also get discounts (10 to 15%)at certain restruarants and stores with the annual pass and 50% discount on mini golf. Eating out for 5 people, 10% is a pretty good savings.

We also went to the sports complex to watch the Orlando Rays play and admission was free to the game with annual passes.

We never made it to the water parks or PI this time but you also get a discount to visit those areas if not included in your pass. And with pool hopping who needs a water park?

We are planning next years trip a little earlier in the year so we can take full advantage of the annual pass.

I've also read that you can not get the DVC discounts on lengh of stay passes if you purchase in advance. not sure if thats correct.

Now I am really confused...The 10 day worldpass looks like it functions exactly like a 10 day UPH---and adds on a breakfast...I thought the 10 day pass was for Internationals only....UK mostly...at $336 with one breakfast why would anyone ever buy a UPH over 6 days if they could get 10 days and a breakfast for less??? (7 day UPH is about $333 in advance and $346 at the gate) Even if you only stay for 6 or 7 days -so what?

freedom is worth more than a few bucks in my eyes..if we were stuck doing 1 park only a day i would go nuts..we stayed at the bwv for 13 nights and my wife like to walk to epcot and get something to eat at night or see illum without having to worry about what park we were in for the day...there is too much going on at wdw to feel that you have to stay in a park even when you are exhausted just to get your $50 worth...

I have never ended up buying this pass (it didn't work for us for a variety of unrelated reasons) but they can sell it to anyone I was told. As for why people would than buy a 6 or 7 day UPH, it is that they don't know there are other options. I believe this pass is only sold through brokers, so it isn't an option for anyone purchasing on-site.

I would not worry about disney quest because of my own exp. that you never do everything.You dont have enough time.Your vacation sounds like to much pressure and not enjoying yourself already.How many days have you set aside to just hang around the resort and take it all in? Relaxing time!
