DH and I are going to the Yachtsman for dinner in a couple of weeks. Which is their juiciest, most flavourful steak? I see a Rib-eye, a filet mignon, a NY strip steak and a Porterhouse on the menu. Of course, there's no way I'm finishing a porterhouse, but DH might.

We love the filet.

You're in for it - you'll probably end up right where you started because everyone will have a different favorite!

We LOVE the Porterhouse - & if you are on Disney dining, your hubby can still get the big one!

We went there 3 times in our several weeks' stay last fall. Every time, the steak (Porterhouse) was fixed exactly as we wanted - pink in the middle, no running blood. To get one's steak cooked correctly is not easily accomplished - but 3 times, that's a miracle! We were concerned about the steak not being a "better" cut, such as, prime, but it was tender.

Don't know about the other cuts, but we really liked the rub on the steak - very flavorable - yummmm.

I don't like baked potatoes, so luckily I got the fries, which I didn't figure I would eat many. Their fries are so good - I think they are paprika fries. I wanted to lick the plate!

Enjoy
p.s. I have seen many reviews/comments on this board that favored the New York cut - see what I mean!

Filet = most tender, least flavor - best with a topping such as Oscar or Au Poivre

Rib-eye = most marbling, most fat

Strip = most robust "beef" flavor

Porterhouse is filet on one side, strip on other, bone in middle

I have had the filet, New York and the ribeye here.

I'm not a filet fan but I was so disappointed with the others that my last visit I did the filet and it was fine.

I eat my meat very rare/almost raw. Both the New York and the ribeye were so tough that I could not cut the meat. So last time I opted to give up flavor in order to get something I could chew.

I got the strip on the recommendation of our server as "the best steak in the house". It is dry-aged, and to me that gave it almost a pork-like flavor. Was not thrilled about spending over $40 on a steak that tasted like a (tough!) porkchop. :rotfl:

Hopefully their other cuts are better.

I have had the porterhouse twice now and it was perfect both times, will be geting it again on my next trip. If you don't like whichever potato dish comes with your chosen steak feel free to substitute. The bread is very good, the onion pull-a-part rolls are incredible.

I've had the filet. It was fine. No better or worse than any other restaurant I've ordered filet. DH had the ribeye and was not at all impressed. Aside from the prices, Yachtsman doesn't deserve Signature status. The food quality is average.

We have had some really good ribeye's.:thumbsup2

We always get the filet and its always DELICIOUS!:thumbsup2

Filet and augratin potatoes for me, porterhouse and augratin for hubby. Lobster Bisque is really good too, and the yachstmen sundae.

DH had the filet and I had the NY strip and while both were great we agreed that the NY Strip had the most flavor
