Hi everyone, my next solo trip is less than 2 weeks away and I am thinking about spending part of a day at the SSR spa. So what is the treatment that you recommend?

Let's see while I have only been to a spa a couple of times, I actually go to a massage therapist each month. I have had a facial a couple of times and enjoyed it. I have also done a pedicure before and enjoyed it. Manicures are definitely out for me.

I have been debating about doing a regular massage at the spa or maybe trying something else. I went to the Niki Bryan website, but they don't seem to have too many explanations.

Anyways, what are your recommendations?

Donald,
my girlfriends and I did the sunrise special (I think thats the name of it) over at the Mandarian spa in the Dolphin. It was great. It includes an orange zest massage and scrub and a facial. Lots of pampering in between procedures (hot teas, water and juice to drink. small sweets to munch on).
They keep a list of all the items they use on you and present them to you at the end (for a fee of course) but absolutely no hard sell. I said no thanks and the box was wisked away with a smile.

I'm not big on pedicures at salons simply because I generally just get my toes soaked and painted so the corner nail salon is sufficient and a lot less expensive.

When I stayed at SSR in September I had a facial and pedicure at the spa. The facial was great the pedicure was not worth the money they charge, I can get the same pedicure at home for half the cost. I am not into massages but I would definitly do the facial again. If you are into it they also have hydro therapy.

My friend and I did the hot stone treatment last summer..aaaaah...it was great!

Thanks! I had forgotten about the dolphin spa.

Excellent point on the pedicure. Do you know what hydro therapy is?

If I just do a massage, the hot stone one is one of the ones that I am considering.

I did the Mystical Forest retreat on one of my trips this year, can't remember which one. I go to spas on every vacation; its part of the deal so I've had some experience at spas, including many former trips to the SSR and GF spas.

Personally, I did not care for the Mystical Forest package. I didn't find anything all that mystical about it, nothing special over any of the other treatments I have had done. Plus, I prefer to do multiple days at the spa for shorter durations then to be there for so many hours at a time. A 2 hour duration of relaxation is all I can stand at one time.

I was very disappointed in my scrub at SSR. I love body scrubs but compared to some of the other spas I have been to, I thought this one was very disappointing.

I enjoy the SSR spa and will continue to go but I prefer to book individual treatments rather than a package. So I typically will book a massage and facial back to back.

I really enjoyed the foot reflexology treatment I had this year and will book another one of those in the future. That was a pleasant surprise. I never do mani's/pedi's either. As PP said, not worth the money.

Wow, thank you so much for your insight. I have never done more than 2 appointments at a time either. So your advice is excellent. Maybe I'll make my own smaller package by picking a couple of items and booking them.

I have never tried reflexology before. What was it like?
