Which side sees Castaway Cay...m

Sometimes the ship pulls in and sometimes it backs. I have been on two cruises and each time was different.

The ships usually back in, but will sometimes pull straight in. I'm told it depends on the tides, wind, currents, and possibly even the mood of the captain.

If I had to bet, I'd say 5522 (starboard side) will get the view of Castaway Cay, but it's not a guarantee. In 11 trips, we've backed in 9 times, pulled straight in twice.

lol...thanks. That explains why I remember hearing it both ways.

Good news is we're in 5522/4 for one trip and 5022/4 for another trip. We could get lucky twice, miss out twice or split. Of course, either way, I plan on enjoying Castaway Cay from the beach...not from my window!!!

everysince Castaway Cay reopened after hurriance Flyod damaged it, we have 100% backed in, that's 20+ cruises. The starboard side (55xx,56xx) has the beach view. The port side gets the dock view. In fact the only cruise I've heard of that pulled in was the DVC cruise in 2002.

They have backed in ever time we went, however, even if your not on the side to face Castaway Cay when you are docked, it was magical that morning when we woke and saw the island as we approached!

And, when we left the island, we were on the side to see the special good-bye wave from the staff!:sunny:
So either side has its pluses!
