Which should I book? Value or WL?

Hi -

I hope you can help with my dilemma:

I am in the beginning planning stages of a trip for the 1st week of December. I have stayed at the WL twice and really love it, and would like to stay there again, but not at rack rate. I am hoping for a discount but obviously it is too early for the good ones, and of course there is no guarantee that any good discounts (like the AP discount) will be released for my dates.

If I can't get a good discount on a room at the WL (or another deluxe) then I will probably stay at a value for the first time.

So I'm looking at two options:

Book the WL now, hope for a good discount, then try to get a room at a value if it doesn't look like any good discounts will be coming my way

Or

Book at the value, then try to upgrade to the WL (or another deluxe) if/when discounts are released?

What would you do, and why?

I'd call AAA and see what their rates are for WL.

I just wrapped up my 4th stay at Pop. While it certainly is not the WL it has a nice atmosphere. Spent Sunday at the Hippie Dippie Pool enjoying the sun, listening to the football fans watch the games at the pool bar. It's a fun resort, and also can have AAA rates.

The last time I booked a Disney trip through AAA it was for a complete package (Air/Resort/Tickets). Will they do room only reservations? I would rather do the rest myself.

Did you ask Disney what their AAA rates for the rooms were? That might be the way to go. No need to go through AAA travel company if you just want the room rate. Recently, I was able to find out the AAA rate from Disney direct by calling them and asking about the rates for certain dates in December. You should be able to do the same. Here's hoping!

1st week of December is Value season for both WL and Values.

AAA discount is 15% for Deluxes.
Pre-tax AAA discounted rates would be as follows:
Standard - 182.75
Woods - 204.00
Courtyard - 229.50


AAA discount for Value is 20%
Pre-tax AAA discounted rates would be as follows:
Standard - 65.60
Preferred - 75.20

Tax is 12.5% for both.

The quantity of rooms allocated to AAA discount is limited. You can call Disney to reserve these rooms.
