What type of shoes would you recommend bringing in August?
I was thinking croc flip flops but then I thought that with it being so hot they would start to stick and maybe blister my feet. I've got great running shoes that are really comfortable and I can walk for miles in but I think it would be way too hot for them in August.
Any suggestions?

I wear Crocs flip flops in August. I also rub bodyglide on my feet to prevent blisters. Since I've been doing this, I haven't gotten any blisters. My feet are much happier in either Crocs sandals or Crocs flip flops than they are in sneakers. :)

Thanks for the tip!

My favorite shoes for WDW are Olukai Ohana flip flops. I too apply Body Glide early in the morning though.

I also like the Orthoheel Tide or Wave flip flops, Cobian Leather Bounce, Sketcher Tone up flips, and some of the Fit Flops. It's just too hot to wear tennis shoes down there in August. The only time I've ever gotten blisters down there was a trip I wore what I thought were well broken in sneakers.

i tried crocs (a few different styles), fit-flops, asics sneakers, and many of other "recommended" brands.
tevas have worked the best. no blisters, thick sole (so you don't feel like you are walking on concrete), and the arch support is great. since they are not leather, they can be easily washed.
my preference is the wide-strap thong styles, but i alternate flat with wedge styles (we walk about 10 miles daily, over about 12 days - alternating keeps my calf muscles from aching).
fit-flops come in 2nd - but my legs and feet start hurting about the 3rd day.

crocs (all styles) were the worse - i got blisters from every one, and they become hazardous in the rain (the soles become slippery, and it is easy to slip out of them unexpectedly). i tried bodyglide to reduce blistering, but that made the slipping ridiculous, even without rain.
hth:)

We leave for WDW next week.:cool1: I've been trying out all my summer shoes for total comfort, and I've decided to take 2 sneakers with orthotics, my Orthoheel Tides, and my old standby Tevas.
I spent a LOT on orthopedic sandals from Foot smart, and while they are comfortable enough, I just don't think they would be OK for miles and miles at Disney. Probably would be better with socks, but I'm not willing to go so far as to wearing orthopedic sandals and socks!:scared1:

I've found Tevas to be very comfortable. Just remember to bring another pair of shoes to alternate with in order to help prevent blisters.

Get moisture wicking socks - when your feet get wet is when blisters are formed. Moisture wicking socks helps with this problem.

Regarding orthaheel :
I just got some yesterday.
I have been wearing them just around the house trying to get used to them.

I don't mind the high arches but they are so hard and stiff that they feel like wooden boards on my feet.
I am used to croc flip flops.

Is the hard feeling of these orthaheels something I will get used to?

As I've always been a beach bum, I would live in bare feet if I could..:)

At the parks I wear either Croc's slides or loafers in the hot months and my Chuck's (Converse all stars/chuck taylor) in the colder months.

My girlfriend absolutely loves her sketcher "go walk" loafers in the warmer months and her memory foam lined new balance in the colder months.
