My family has sailed on the Fantasy twice and the Dream once. My DH and I have sailed on the Magic. We can’t decide between a trip to Disney or another cruise. I was looking at the DCL site and there’s a cruise out of Miami on the Magic that we are interested in, but I’m worried my boys will be bored. They’ll be 17-years-old and have never sailed on the classics. Is there enough to keep them entertained?

The kids will not be bored. They do a great job of getting them involved in activities. Plus boys are super easy. They will just group up and go play some ball. All of the ships are good, IMO. And 17 is old enough to be able to entertain themselves no matter where they are.

When are you sailing? We sailed out of Miami in September and there were no teens in the Vibe. It was weird.

We’d be sailing in June, so I’m sure there would be teens in Vibe, although my boys weren’t crazy about the Vibe on the Dream so I’m not even sure they’d go there.

The Aquaduck is great but I think the AquaDunk is a much more thrilling water slide so if you teens like that sort of thing definitely have them experience it on the Magic. I also think the Thugs in Rapunzel’s are a unique and fun thing that even teens can enjoy.

If my kids weren’t into the vibe they’d have been bored. My son was bored on the cruise with no teens. Maybe look at Royals new ships they have more to do and they do have a teen club. I think the teens get to do some of the stuff for free during scheduled activities. Such as laser tag and surf rider.

Would your teens be interested in any of the other ship activities? Bingo, Trivia, etc.? My DS has been on DCL a few times, but is now 15 and is only excited about going on the Dream next summer because we are sailing Northern Europe and he can go to Vibe and, hopefully, meet some other teens on the ship. He has zero interest in the Disney elements of our upcoming cruise. Have you considered other cruise lines?

We did look into sailing the Harmony of the Seas, I just never pulled the trigger because we’ve kind of been back and forth between a cruise and another trip to Disney. Just last week I found a pretty good GTY rate on the Magic and we got thinking that cruising DCL again would be nice since it’s Disney, but not the parks, if that makes sense. I might have to revisit Royal.

My kids were always into the teen clubs and making new friends. If that's not your kids I don't think DCL has much to offer teens. My kids had no interest in any of the adult activities or hanging out with their parents for that matter. They do enjoy going the parks with us and doing thing like touring Europe, but cruises were all about being independent.

We're cruising on the Wish in January just to check it out. I feel like I need to experience it. They'll attempt the 18-20 activities, but it might be a fail. We're cruising Odyssey of Seas in Europe this Summer mostly due to cost vs DCL. We will be very busy in the European ports so boredom shouldn't be an issue.

Just to add my kids did love Royal and my Older son prefers it.
