Which ship and itinerary?

With all other things being equal....which would you choose? Fantasy leaving from PC, 7 days, Eastern Caribbean. Or Magic leaving from NYC, 7 days, stops at Naussau, CC, and a day at WDW? Which itinerary and ship would you prefer? We've been on one other Disney cruise and it was on the magic. We loved the ship. Can't decide if we would enjoy the smaller ships or if we want to try a larger this time.

Last time we were supposed to go to Nassau, castaway key, and Disney World. However we were rerouted to Canada because of the hurricane. Part of me wants to go back do the itinerary we were supposed to go on. And we love the idea of having a full day at Disney World. But part of me wants to try the Eastern Caribbean route and a larger ship. I know it's very subjective. But would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

I so want to do the.NYC to WDW!! But don't listen to me, bc #1, I LOVE the Magic and much prefer it to the Fantasy, and #2 , I've done the EC itinerary twice. And we can drive to NY and save airfare for the 5 of us. But one thing to consider, i am very curious what the weather on deck will be like for all the sea days on the NY departure. I don't know what month you are looking at, but when I checked out the.weather it seemed it might be cool and chilly during the daytime. Not sure if the pools will be okay.for.you Also, you have to really like sea days (we do) bc if i am not mistaken, there are more on the NY cruise. Sounds like a tough decision, but either way, it's a Disney cruise! :dancer:

If I had booked the Magic last year and been re-routed to Canada, I would probably want to re-try the itinerary that I had originally booked. I chose it for a reason, after all. That said, I might be risk adverse and worried that I'd get stuck with a hurricane again. If you got re-routed to Canada a second time, would that be okay with you?

We did the Eastern on the Fantasy last spring break and loved it so much we're doing it again (Star Wars, no less). It's a very nice cruise. I haven't been on the smaller ships, but I can't say the larger ship ever felt too crowded, even over spring break, but I can't compare, either.

To answer your question about if we would be ok if we got rerouted again. It's NO! We would not be at all ok with that. Lol. We had such a great time and made the best of it. The ship was less than half full so we had everything to ourselves. Everyone spoiled you on that cruise. But we made the best of it because it because there were no other options.

We missed out on all of the great stops we wanted to try. We had unpack all of our warm clothes and repack with cold close to days before we left. It was cold and rainy most of the days in Canada (though it was beautiful). It was too cold to swim even though our kids tried a few times. You couldn't really sit outside much.

Our first night we met our two servers who took amazingly great care of us. They were so sweet and wonderful. They talked about how they were going to take care of us the entire week and we all fell in love with them. After the first night the ship was so empty that they decided to go to one dining time for everyone on board. So they changed all of the dining rotations and we got new servers on the second night. Our new servers were also wonderful but they just weren't the same as our initial service. That really bummed us out.

Like I said… We had an amazing cruise and made such great memories. We still talk about how much we loved it. But we are not going to Canada again! LOL.

If you're going at the same time of year, then maybe choose the Fantasy, then. You can always do a day at WDW on your own.

I love the idea but it won't be possible. My husband will have just enough vacation time for the cruise and that's it.

Personally, I'd prefer the 7 day eastern caribbean. Nassau is pretty meh, IMO. If you're leaving in winter then cruising out of NYC it's not going to be enjoyable until you get to a warmer climate. And one day at Disney just isn't very much time. But I'm more of a tropical island vacation kind of person. Definitely the 7 day cruise would be my pick.

Go for the Fantasy. I prefer the Dream class ships. I truly think you would like this one better. Good luck!

I would do the Magic mainly because I live in the northeast and we could drive to the port in 4 hours.

Don't fight it!! We have been on eight DCL cruises, three in the Caribbean (east/west) on the Fantasy and five on the Magic and Wonder. Take whichever cruise fits now and sign up for your next choice while on the ship. Most folks like the first DCL ship they sail on, large or small. We find advantages/surprises/fun in them all. If you want to wait, the three new ships will give you even more options...enough, I suspect, to drive us all crazy (in a good way).

Fantasy. I hated that Magic itinerary (not particularly a fan of the Magic either).
