We did the basic stuff like zoos and parks...
I was in theater/drama classes so a lot of plays and things, too. And a few theme parks in our state.
But my two favorites are:
In 8th grade, the yearbook staff and drama class kids combined to take a trip to St. Louis to see Beauty and the Beast at The Fox Theater. It was wonderful! After the show, the actors who played Lumiere and the Beast came onto our school bus to say hello to us! All the girls were in love with Lumiere after seeing the show, so we were SO excited.
And my senior year, I was in a class called stagecraft. We were in charge of the school plays from set building to stage managing.
We went to see the Miss USA pageant dress rehearsal...hosted by Carson Daly and with performances by Christina Aguilera, Brian McKnight and Mark Wills (singing Back at One together, since both released the song on the pop and country charts that year), and Lou Bega. Mambo Number 5, anyone?? I feel like there was someone else but can't remember!
The Mambo Number 5 part was the swimsuit competition, and he had to keep singing parts of it over and over and over...he ended up just sitting down on a stage prop at one point while they'd practice a certain part of the girls walking again and again.
Christina Aguilera was AMAZING live, she sounded perfect, and even the kids who were too cool to listen to her music thought she was incredible.
That trip really stood out because it was so cool to watch the dress rehearsal. Because we were in Missouri (my home state), they picked Miss Missouri for the "winner" for the end of the rehearsal. It was fun!
