Which rides are identical to WDW?

We will be visiting WDW in July and to save touring time we may skip rides that are the same as DLR. Which ones are the same? TSMM? Soarin? Anything else?

Once you get inside the actual ride...sure, Soarin' is the same and so is TSMM.

Pirates is not the same, nor is Buzz, and both are better at DLR IMO. Buzz in Anaheim allows you to move the blasters out of their holsters, which makes the ride so much more fun. And since I just re-re-read your post and saw that you are going to WDW, then you can read that as Buzz in Magic Kingdom is the lesser ride, and is frustrating for an Anaheim-park-goer.

Star Tours is the same once you're on the ride, I suppose. Though the queue is kinda neat.

Space shouldn't even have the same name as each other; it's a very different ride. DLR's version is generally considered better, or at the very least more comfortable. The WDW version has seating more like Splash at Disneyland, and has a t-bar for each ride (instead of the lap bar on 'land's Space). WDW's is far more like DL's Matterhorn in terms of how it feels and how you'll feel at the end of it.


That's all I can think of right now. Oh wait...IMO (and this might not be correct) Peter Pan is different at DL (but I could not tell you HOW), and small world is definitely different. Honestly I don't know which small world I prefer; it is my FAVORITE ride, or at least it was, but the disney characters at the DL version bug me still. The holiday version bugs me more (Jingle Bells does NOT go with iasw's song no matter what they think). But MK's version didn't feel right to me, not one little bit. So I'm stuck on that one. Maybe you should go on it to see for yourself. Oh and FYI Peter Pan at Magic Kingdom has FastPass, which is just odd, but since it does it makes it easier to fit into your day.

In July it will be the other way around for us. We are visiting DL in July but are WDW vets. Even if they have the same attractions we will be in line for all of them. I am so excited to see how each attraction is a little bit different even in the line area. Also how things flow in DL differently than WDW, Have tons of fun on your trip

Don't think the splash mountains are identical. I haven't been on splash in Dl yet, but from everyone one who has done both, they say WDW is better because it is longer.

Also everyone says Pirates is way better at DL and Tower of terror better at WDW because of the random drop sequences.

That's all I can think of without having gone to DL yet.

Peter Pan is longer at WDW.

HM is slightly different.

While the Dumbo ride is different, the new interactive queue is supposed to be pretty cool.

Big Thunder is somewhat different. IIRC, Winnie the Pooh is the same. Snow White is different from the version that just got torn down at WDW. Autopia is much better than Tomorrowland Speedway. Innoventions is pretty similar to the various Epcot exhibits. Muppetvision 3-D is the same, as is Bug's Life 3D.

Honestly though, even the rides that are the 'same' have different queuing areas. If you love the ride at WDW, try it at DL. You'll still enjoy it!

Thanks everyone! Very helpful. Since we're expecting insane crowds there I'm just planning on not seeing everything at WDW. Since we have an AP at DLR we can see these anytime.

Winnie the Pooh is different. At WDW the ride cars bounce up and down, at DL they do not. There might be other differences, but it's been 8 years since I've been to WDW so that's all I can remember. Oh, and the DL version has a little nod to the country bear jamboree, which is what was removed to make room for pooh.

The movies are all the same, of course. And Turtle Talk is the same (except of course, it's always different, but no real difference from WDW). And things that go around in a circle (Carousel, Dumbo, and the Teacups) are pretty much the same IMO.

Every other little ride (from Peter Pan to Pooh) has it's own nuances... making it somewhat different from it's counterpart at WDW. POTC is the one with the most differences -- don't miss it.

-Haunted Mansion: better at MK (longer, and has an interactive queue)
-Small World: better exterior at DLR, no Disney characters at MK
-Buzz : better at DLR (removable guns, better targets)
-Railroad: No dinosaurs in MK
-Pirates: better in DL (longer in DL, but MK has different queue)
-Winnie the Pooh: 2 totally different rides
-Peter Pan: longer in MK
-Jungle Cruise: similar, but longer in MK
-Tiki Room: very similar
-Astro Orbitor: same, but MK's is up on the second level
-Radiator Springs is much better than Test Track
-Indy is much better than Dinosaur
-Fantasmic: except that DHS has seating, much better show at DL
-Carousel of Progress: used to be at DL, hasn't changed
-Country Bear: Original show from many years ago

Identical rides although queues may be different:
Soarin', Muppets, Toy Story Mania, Star Tours, Bug's Life, Little Mermaid ride (DCA/new Fantasyland) Teacups, Carrousel, Dumbo

I don't know the answer, but when we went in July a few years back it was so humid I became ill, I am a SoCal gal and a whimp when it comes to weather that is too hot or cold. It is also hurricane season.

The humidity though? That's the nightmare at WDW in summer! My first trip to DL last July spoiled me, weather-wise.

None of the "rides" are the same.

Attractions that are "movies" are the same "movies" but the buildings they are in are different and make for a different experience.

I do not suggest skipping any attraction or ride because Disneyland has it.

I would love to see everything, but with small children and heat and crowds, its just not going to happen. So, if I can skip TSMM where I know the line is difficult at best in favor of Rock n Roller or ToT, we'll do that. Last week we were able to ride that 8 times in a row during EMH.

Definitely skip TSMM it at HS. There continues to be a mad rush for FP there every morning.

The more I think about it, HS may be a one day park at best for you... Maybe even half day. You can hit ToT and RnR first thing... Skip TS, Fantasmic, Star Tours, Muppets, Disney Junior, Jedi Training, the animation building. All easier/better to hit at DCA. The so called backlot tour is a shell of what it used to be... You won't miss out if you skip it. You have real studio tours in California! That pretty much leaves you with the two stunt shows (Indy and LMA), Great Movie Ride, and maybe a couple other little things.

You don't have anything like Epcot at DL. Plan a couple of days there. And I personally love AK... It's a HOT park though. But HS? Meh.

Just thought of another you could probably skip... Little Mermaid at MK. The new queue is supposed to have great theming... But ultimately the ride is the same as at DCA.

Oh. I have never read about humidity keeping anyone away from DLR. It just is not an issue for most people as it is not bad compared to other places.
