Planning on 3 days at USF and IOA while staying 2 nights at Hard Rock Hotel in July.

The Kitchen for breakfast one of the days is on the to do list.
Thought about adding Mythos for lunch or dinner.
Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville and Buppa Shrimp both appeal but not sure which to include.

Help me plan our dinning options :worship:

We like both Margaritaville and Bubba Gump. But, if you've been to a Margaritaville before, in the Caribbean, be ready for it to be very different! It's not as wild as the other ones. :)

If I had to choose, based on food, I would choose Bubba Gump. If you're going to have kids with you, then Margaritaville is more fun, IMO.

i'd skip bubba gump and do M' ville or HRC.

the breakfast buffet at the Kitchen is fabulous!

check the hours mythos is open when you are at the park.

if the park does not stay open late, you might find out mythos closes at 6. (maybe 7 on some nights.)

do mythos for lunch and dinner at city walk.

Tell me about the breakfast buffet at The Kitchen, HRH, please.

We enjoyed the Hardrock Cafe and now its a must do and I am a big Nascar fan so we always make Nascar Grille a must do :thumbsup2

if you go with the breakfast buffet and not the menu, you will find everything that possibly could be served for breakfast and then some.....:goodvibes

omelet station, prepared as ordered, eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, french toast, waffles, egg casserole style, breakfast potatos, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, jams/jellies, english muffins, toast, biscuits, gravy, and i forget what else.

you have different stations for the items.
people usually go thru the "hot" item line for the eggs and those type of items and fill their plate.

they turn around and see another station for the breakfast egg or potato casseroles and add more to their plate.

then they see on the other side of the hot line, fresh fruit table, yogurt table, cereal table, etc..........

be prepared to come out of that place full..

you can't go wrong with the Kitchen breakfast buffet

if you are staying at RPH and interested in a great breakfast buffet, stay where you are. their breakfast buffet is even better some say.

I'm glad to hear that as we're staying at RPH and I'm lazy :rolleyes1

Maybe we'll try it out on Tuesday morning.

I've not had breakfast at the kitchen, but the couple dinners my wife and I have had there were fantastic. Very good food, and the service was great. The crew made some friends and I a fantastic last-minute-before-closing meal one late night. I felt bad and would have said "closed" in opposite roles. They just smiled, made us feel like welcome and wanted customers, and made us killer food. I'd recommend the place to anyone and considered the prices fair. If they are just as on point for breakfast....go.

RPR breakfast buffet in the Islands dinning room is the best. We eat every morning and fill up and have a light lunch or snack before dinner.

Loved Bubba Gump. Not so much for the food, but for the way they operate. There's a sign on your table, and if you want help from a waiter, you change the sign. As soon as someone sees the sign, they stop to ask what you need. You don't have to just wait and wait for the person assigned to your table to happen to walk by. Also, they have a roll of paper towels on the table. We're always asking for extra napkins; this seems so much better. A very happy meal.

Best Aunt, i'm glad you had great service at Bubba's but after reading many other threads, others have not experienced the same service as you have.

it's a chain restaurant and the one in Chi town wasn't as great either for me.
there are some dishes that are great at Bubba's.
and then there are some not up to expectations which can happen at any chain restaurant.

i think the tourists that never have been to a Bubba Gumps really are wowed by the ambiance the place has. it is very catchy and clever.

When they (any chain restaurant) are in tourist areas, they don't have to impressed people with the quality of food as much.
some people only go to a certain tourist destination a couple of times in their lives.

i think if any one goes to BG, they should take Best Aunt with them as she will be their lucky charm!

My son is insisting on eating at Bubba Gump's (he loves the movie!), I'm fine with eating there, but could you tell me some safe (taste wise) choices to make??? I've looked over the menu a few times, I'm thinking of ordering the shaken shrimp cocktail for an appetizer, and I'm debating between the shrimp po'boy or the scampi, hubby is thinking of the stuffed shrimp, has anyone ever ordered any of these and what was your opinion of them?

You are right about the service. We tried it last summer and was one of the worst service experence that we have had anywhere. After a long talk with the manager the best he could do it give us a free appitizer for next time.:sad2:

To make a long story short we were there for an early dinner and all the staff was more interested in talking to one another than helping on the few tables. When the food came they forgot mine and brought my DW's, and DS's. After about 5-10 minutes of no one coming by I got up to ask. Our waitress came over and said whats wrong. I told her where is my meal. She said " Oh, I guess you are not eating tonight!). Then she asked me what I ordered. I told her she should know because she took the order down. After about another 15 minutes my meal came out with the manager and got the run around. I had to explain the whole thing to him and the funny thing is all I ordered was a ceasr salad! The rest of the stay she never came back to the table and the manager delivered the bill. I never left a tip and this was the first time ever for no service.

We have made many trips back since then to US and IOA and never gave it a try until our Feb. visit. That visit was a good experence and will be trying it again in July. But everytime I think of BG's, I always think of the bad experience.:thumbsup2

I forgot to add:

The worst thing is, that was our first night dinner of our summer trip. We just got checked into RPR and to the boat to Citywalk. What a way to start a trip.

Thanks for the update on the Kitchen. We will be staying at PBH. Recommnedations for simple meals there? Is it too much to walk over to HRH for a breakfast?

Definitely check out Margaritaville! It's my favorite restaurant in Orlando. The food's great and the atmosphere's so much fun. My friend and I tried the Bubba Gump here in the city last summer and probably wouldn't go back any time soon. The food was good but WAY overpriced. We shared an appetizer and each got an entree, and the bill came to $80 :scared1: Granted it could've been because it was in times Square, but it's expensive for what you get!

Bubba Gump you have to know what to order. The Po'Boy is a joke. When we ate there the sirlion with twice backed potatoe was great. My DS got the fish platter and it looked gross.DD played it safe and got the hamburger platter, looked just like MV to me.I got the crab stuffed shrimp,it was awesome!!Side orders were onion rings:thumbsup2 and shrimp cocktail:thumbsup2..

Alittle unknown secret about CW that I found out on my own is,if they dont have a kitchen in site were you can see them cook, there is a central kitchen under CW that serves all the restraunts. So pretty much if you get a Po'Boy from BG,it will be the same as the one you will get at Pat O'Brians!!!!!

Hate to be a spoiler, but its true..

I agree. My ranking of the breakfast buffets are:
1. Islands at RPR(dined at several times).
2. The Kitchen at HRH (dined at for fist time last October).
3. Trattoria at PBH (dined at once).

My ranking is based upon restaurant layout and service, as the quality, quantity and variety of the breakfast items are very similar for the three buffets.

We will be staying at PBH for our upcoming October trip, so I'm sure we'll be eating Trattoria for breakfast for one morning. Perhaps my ranking will change after that trip.
