Which restaurants require reservations?

Is there a list somewhere of all the places that need a reservation? I am getting mixed up between the places that need a reservation and those that don't need one.

Not sure if there is a list out there but not many need one!

In Disneyland: Blue Bayou, Cafe Orleans, and Carnation Cafe are three that I would say you definitley want to make a reservation for!

In DCA: Wine Country Trattoria and Ariel's Grotto need them as well!

Things that you can make reservations for:
Napa Rose
Blue Bayou
All character meals
World of Color meals
Cafe Orleans
Carnation Cafe
Big Thunder Ranch BBQ
Wine Country Trattoria
Steakhouse 55
Storytellers Cafe

Also some DTD restaurants

Thanks! I'm glad I asked because I was thinking the Carnation Cafe and some of those other places didn't need one. We've done this before but it has been 6 years - a lot has changed!

Depending on when you go, it is possible to just be a walk-up customer. I have gone to Cafe Orleans during spring break and been told I could have a table in 30-45 minutes. It's just nice, in my opinion, to have a reservation (and peace of mind) if you have a place you know you really want to try.

Always a good idea to make a reservation for Blue Bayou. It works by reservations, and only takes walk ins to fill the empty tables if people don't show up for their reservations. Cafe Orleans, Carnation Cafe, and Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue are not as reservation dependent, but if you want to eat at any of them during the normal lunch or dinner hours (breakfast also for Carnation Cafe) book ahead. 714-781-DINE can make reservations up to 60 days ahead.

I learned at the restaurants that take reservations do accept walk ups if they have seating available, but there is a big difference in asking if the is "any immediate seating available" and "open or available reservations". If you wanna walk up, be sure to ask for "immediate seating".

You can make reservations anywhere from 60 days to 60 minutes in advance. A couple of times I've gone to Cafe Orleans and they quoted a standby time of 75 minutes. I call Disney Dining Reservations and got a reservation for 60 minutes into the future. Got it before my standby would have been called!

I think there are a lot that dont *NEED* a reservation but from personal experience I would make one for every sit down meal you want to have.

The only in-park place where I'd say you need a reservation is Blue Bayou. Even on busy Saturdays, I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for CC or CO. If you have a party larger than 4, though, that's a different story. Larger parties sometimes require moving tables together.

Doesn't hurt to make a reservation for CC and CO but they're usually not required.

The Dobies usually make reservations for dinner at Carnation Cafe, Cafe Orleans, or Storytellers before we go, because we don't like to stand around waiting for meals (there is enough of that for rides.)

That being said, we have frequently been quickly seated at Storytellers without reservations.

There is usually a long line at Carnation Cafe at mealtimes.

We have successfully made reservations in the morning for all restaurants except Blue Bayou.
