We're going to be eating dinner @ the DL area two nights next week. We'll be there on my birthday and I've already decided I want to eat at the Naples restaurant (pizza) in Downtown Disney.

It really works out best for us to have a dinner plan, rather to just "wing it".

We've eaten at Storytellers cafe a number of times and like it very much. I'd like to try something different this time, though.

We're considering:

~Cafe Orleans

~Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen

~Tortilla Joe's

We tried the Rainforest Cafe last trip and had to walk out. It was just WAY too loud. Would the Jazz Kitchen most likely be loud, too? I don't need a "quiet" restaurant, but just someplace we can relax after a long day of walking around and be able to talk to each other. (Unfortunately the Blue Bayou is out of our budget this trip.)

Considering what we like/don't like (like: Storyteller and Naples. dislike: Rainforest) Which restaurant above would you recommend for us?

Thanks. :cool1:

Ralph Brennan's has excellent food. The main dining room usually has live music, is packed tight with people, and can be quite loud. The other areas of the restaurant are much quiter and probably better suited to you.

I loved the atmosphere at jazz kitchen but not impressed with the food. Cafe Orleans food was better but service was lacking. Depends on whether you want a break from the park.
They are both really nice.

I too really like the food at Ralph Brennan's. I haven't been there at peak times so don't know how noisy it can get, but it sounds like it can be quite noisy by what PP said. I know there is upstairs and outdoor seating though, so maybe you would find either of those choices more comfortable. We have eaten outdoors at La Brea Bakery before and not found the DtD noise and activity to be too much for us.

My brother and my in-laws both like Tortilla Joes but have described the interior of the restaurant as noisy and even raucous on occasion. I have never been interested in eating there since we eat Mexican and Southwestern food often enough when not on vacation.

Many people love Cafe Orleans, but my experience there was terrible with regard to service mostly. I didn't find the food very impressive either though. If you were going to eat there, I would recommend holding out for outdoor seating. There isn't much seating indoors, but that's where we got placed. I should have asked politely to wait for outdoors, but it was a busy time and I for some reason felt like I would be a bother if I asked. I found indoors cramped and noisy, and we were too near the area where the servers were getting drinks, silverware, etc. Even so, we had terrible service and cold food.

We enjoy Tortilla Joes and usually eat there once a trip. We also love Cafe Orleans. Service is sometimes slow, but I attribute that to spreading servers too thin.

Thank you! :)

Are the Jazz Kitchen and Tortilla Joe's close to each other? Maybe we'll just head over to DTD and see which one looks better at the time.

I would say they are not even a few minutes walk away from each other. I agree that Jazz Kitchen gets an A+ for atmosphere, but I also loved their food! You get pretty large portions for the price you pay and the servers are so nice and attentive. I have not been to Tortilla Jo's yet (only 2 weeks!), but it always looked nice and I know it's pretty popular.

~Cafe Orleans
Very good, if you eat here make a reservation and order the Pomme Frites and Mickey beignets, yummy!!!! I very much enjoy the Ratatouille at CO, it's very good. :)

~Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen
YES!!!! Eat here!!! The food is amazing! The drinks are also good. We never have enough room for dessert, but we've ordered the beignets from here (and from the JKExpress) and we enjoyed them very much. It is loud in the main downstairs dining area, if you want to avoid that simply ask to eat upstairs or in the outdoor area. You won't regret your choice to dine here.

~Tortilla Joe's
I cannot in good conscience suggest eating at TJ's. We have eaten there twice and both times DBF and I have had negative "side effects". I'm not sure the best way to put it but suffice it to say that we've had to spend too much time in the bathroom following our dining at TJ's. We won't eat there again.

Thank you! :)

They are basically right across the walk from each other, one corner of RBJK is at the corner of TJ's, but they are opposite corners....so if you're walking from the monorail you see TJ's on the left first and just as it is ending you see RBJK on the right. :)

I definitely recommend CO and RBJK for dining, both have very good food.

FYI:

You may want to get the Simply Patina $30 coupon to be used within 60 days of your birthday at Naples or Catal in DTD. I am planning to use mine at Catal.

We're leaving in about an hour and I haven't received my coupon yet. Bummer! But this is great to know! We usually come to DL for my birthday every year. Thanks! :thumbsup2
