We are booked for the Wishes Dessert Party 9/22 at7:20. DS (7) doesn't care for sweets, and DH thinks we need a meal beforehand. Would you choose 'Ohana (5:20 ADR) or something lighter like The Plaza? Or would you choose something else?

FYI, there are 3 of us. That morning will be a MK day. We will rest at the resort before heading back. We are on the DDP. That's all I can think of...thanks for your help!

I would book something light. I definitely wouldn't book 'Ohana, which is an all you can eat type place.

When we went last year, we did CRT at noon and didn't eat again until the dessert party. For lunch DH and my 2 DDs had the sandwich with salad or fruit. I had the major domo pie. So the dessert party was sort of our dinner. :rotfl2: Bad mommy! (Although my kids are teens, so not so bad.)

I agree 100% with the PP. Light supper--maybe even a late lunch instead. We've done the Dessert Party 2 times (with the 3rd scheduled next week!). It will be our "dinner" for the night too!

yup, we are skipping supper that nite.....................then maybe a sandwich in the room around midnite.

My plan for that day is to have a decent lunch (Liberty Tree Tavern) do something light for dinner (sushi at Kona Island Sushi bar......or something QS if its busy over there) and then the dessert party.

We are having a 4:00 "dinner" at Liberty Tree and Wishes at 9:00. I'm thinking we may still be stuffed but I feel like I'm paying for the view also.

From your times, I looked up Wishes for that night. 8pm. So I would recommend going to the dessert party at 7pm. Since that is really early, I would recommend a late lunch and no dinner.

I think a 2pm lunch somewhere would be appropriate.

Have fun!

We're in the same boat...

Decided for a 1:50pm lunch at Liberty Tavern. Back to the resort to chill and snack, and then we'll head over to Wishes and onto MVMCP.

Be VERY, VERY careful about this. When I booked the Dessert Party (10 pm fireworks night) the CM was insistent that my reservation was for 9:20. But I had read on this board and on AllEars that it was for a full hour before the fireworks.

So one earlier evening during our trip I stopped by the Tomorrowland Noodle Terrace and asked the CMs that were setting up for that night's party.

Good thing I did.

The CMs working the actual party told me that it always STARTS 1 hour before the fireworks and that you should BE THERE 15-30 minutes before that. They check you in, give you wristbands, and line you up outside. Then at the 1 hour mark they open the area and quickly escort each group to their assigned table. I think by 20 minutes after the hour they will have given your table away to a walk-up.

The CMs taking phone ressies for the Dessert Party seem to have more problems/misinformation about this event than anything else on the property. Now, it is entirely possible that Disney has changed the rules. But unless your Dessert Party is also your first night on the property, try to go ask the people who are actually working the event; they know the most!

Oh - and we also had a large very late lunch buffet and used the Dessert Party for dinner. Which gave us a huge sugar high that was perfect for an evening EMH at the MK!

Honestly, I'd go with counter service or something light like the Plaza. When we went in May, we ate at Casey's around 4. We even skipped dessert there because we wanted to save room for the party.

I think we may be in trouble. We are doing the luau and then the dessert party at 9 pm on Oct 17. It sounds like this might be a mistake?

I would do the luau on another night. You won't get the most enjoyment out of the dessert party if you are stuffed from the luau.

I would book some very light, or book nothing at all, and just eat a small CS meal to hold me over until the party starts. I definatly wouldn't eat at Ohana.

Thanks for the info. You are right - the CM told me to arrive at 7:20! 7 it is...or a little before...

Sounds like my plan to eat 1:40 lunch at CRT and then Wishes dessert party for dinner is a winner :cool1:

Oh well it won't hurt the kids, I wish I could say the same for my hips lol
I turn 40 that day, if I can't live it up then when can I? I think dessert for dinner is perfect ha:cake:
