My husband and I are bringing my elderly frail mother to WDW, as she loves it, and her mind and health are going downhill fast. Want to get her there one last time. She loves the characters, but doesn't really know the Pooh characters.

Here is what we have so far.

1900 PF dinner
Garden Grill dinner
Narcoossees at Wishes time
Askerhaus lunch

We need a dinner for the first day. We arrive at airport 1:40pm. Pick up rental car and go straight to check-in at PO French Quarter. Then to MK. Hoping to arrive at MK by around 3:30 or so, grab a quick bite and tour till 6:30 when we will park and wait for parade and fireworks.(mother in wheelchair all the time.) Then, after fireworks, want a decent dinner, preferably somewhere we haven't tried yet. Our options are Tony's(very convenient), the Wave(fairly convenient), or drive back to hotel and walk to Boatwrights or take boat to DTD for Raglan Road, or go to boardwalk for Kouzzina. The advantage of the last three is that, if my mom is too tired, we can take her to room and settle her in before we go out to eat. With the little she eats, a snack would be fine for her after MK. My inclination is to make ressie at Tony's or the Wave, and if she is too tired, cancel and take her to hotel, then go out to RR, Kouzzina's or Boatwrights. I figure that at that time of night it shouldn't be too hard to get in without ressies.

So what do you think of the choices.

We ALWAYS do Tony's on arrival day if we are arriving right at "meal time" just because it is at the front of the park.

I picked Raglan Road simply for the fact that I want to try it. :) I think it will actually fit nicely in your touring plan for the day too though. I just worry about you over doing it with your mom. I love that you're taking her. :lovestruc

I picked the wave because I have heard great things, have not been there yet. I would plan what you said, schedule one of the two close restaurants and then if it is too much for your mom, taker her abck to the hotel, get hjer settled and take the boat to DTD or head over to the Boardwalk, which would be the farthest. We have eaten at both Raglan Road and Kouzzina's and we enjoyed both but liked Kouzzina's better. The boardwalk area is beatufiul and very relaxing whiole DTD tends to be busier.

O'Hana at the Polynesian has a wonderful dinner...you can take the monorail from the Magic Kingdom right there...if you are lucky enough to get a table by the window, you can watch the fireworks from the restaurant. They have a family style dinner with lots of food...all delicious..then hop the monorail back to the kingdom. O'Hana also has a wonderful breakfast..great food...Lilo, Stitch and Mickey Mouse......

Raglan Road is great...you will love it..great food and atmosphere!!!

I would go with Tony's for convenience. If your mom loves the characters, she may like the atmosphere there too. The Wave would be my 2nd choice, because it's the next most convenient. Unlike others, my last choice would be Raglan Road. You may be tired yourselves, after a day of travel, then park touring. I probably wouldn't want to go by the room, then head back out once again. Plus, our worst meal we've ever had at WDW was at RR. My DH will eat anything, & he didn't even finish his entree. We'll return someday, but only for appetizers & desserts.

I voted for Tony's just because you are already at MK.
Raglan Road is WONDERFUL..it's the one TS meal we must eat at every year!
Good luck with your choice!
Have a great vacation

Hands down our favourite of these is Raglan Road. I hesitated at first when I saw you would be at MK but after reading your complete post I am even more convinced that RR is the right choice for you.

We usually go to RR our first night when staying at POR. You can take the nice boat ride to DTD and its a fun atmosphere at RR. The food is (usually) good too!

I don't know but we usually don't go to a park on our arrival day because we are tired from our flight and we're in good health. If your mother is in frail health it might be a bit much to do. We usually relax at our resort, eat at Boatwrights or POR has an excellent Food court with Create your own Pasta which is just at good as a TS restaurant for a fraction of the cost.If you do get to go to DTD you have to try Earl of Sandwich, I was surprised at how good their sandwiches were for a Quick Service restaurant, my DS still talks about it, wish we had one in our area.

don't mean to be a "debbie downer" but it sounds to me like you have way too much planned for arrival day.

I really doubt you will make it to MK by 3:30.
even if you do, I would choose: either the "bite to eat", some touring, parade and fireworks, OR a nice sit down dinner.

we never do a park on arrival day. we get settled in the room, enjoy the resort a bit, and have a nice dinner that night. taking the boat to DTD seems like a great compromise.

if it works for you, great. just my advice
