Which Resorts to avoid when cheerleading competitions are going on?

We are planning a trip for the end of April, beginning of May. From what I hear there will be some cheer competitions going on at this time. Some are saying to avoid POP Century, while others are saying to avoid the All Star Resorts. Of course, these value resorts are the ones we were looking into! LOL! We are possibly trying for CBR, but not sure if we want to spend that much. So, I was just wondering if anyone had experience with this. TIA! :)

I was at Pop last year when it was cheerleading. The resort is so large and the kids are so busy that it did not disrupt us at all. It was even fun to watch them practice. If you like Pop, I would not let that stop you from staying there.

I've never actually stayed at WDW during a cheer competition. However, from reading on here about them for years, it seems they almost always choose value resorts. It's the only way large groups can affordably stay at WDW.

If you're willing to pay more for a moderate to avoid cheer groups (again, I don't know how intrusive those groups are to others), I'd recommend POFQ. It's by far the smallest of the mods and easiest to get around, plus the boat to DtD is excellent.

Are the buses, pools, & food court more crowded when the cheerleaders are there?

If I were to choose a moderate, I would definitely choose CBR!! I have stayed there numerous times & love it! Still working on our budget so we can decide which to choose!

We were at Pop with cheerleaders at the end of April 2013. They did not disturb us at all and they did not get in the way of my morning coffee.

I'm visiting for a dance team competition in January (cheerleading competitions are run by the same company).
We were given the choice of All Stars or CBR.
In the 7 years my daughter has been to nationals there I've never heard of a team spending the $$$ for CBR, I get the impression that it's more for parents that don't want to stay at the values.
Hope this helps.

Teams are usually offered All-Stars or CBR as their package choice. I think which they pick depends on if their families are traveling along with them or not.

Sometimes you will see them at POP (they usually put them together in the 80's and 90's). You will never see them at POFQ so that would be your safest bet.

Sometimes there are a "few";):) Cheerleaders at All-Star Sports during Cheer and Dance Worlds.:)

Every time I see your picture I laugh out loud! :lmao:

You know my DS is a high school coach that goes to Disney to participate twice a year (he also went as an athlete). Years ago they moved their team offsite just to get away from the other teams because unlike many they maintain strict control of their athletes behavior.

Ha! I guess no matter which resort we choose will be a 50/50 chance of being crowded with cheerleaders! Do they impact the crowd at the parks at all?

We've been there when cheerleaders were there and they didn't really impact the parks. We've seen them mostly at night and they didn't really bother us.

And they have stayed at CBR. Our Magical Express stopped at CBR to pick them up, so I know they were there.

Yup, we stayed here one year, last weekend of April for all-star cheerleading worlds - but we were there to see Worlds. We stayed at All Star Sports and that is exactly what it looks like!!!

If any hotel, I would stay away from Sports!!

CBR is definitely a cheer destination. We have experienced that ourselves.

We did too at CBR last End of April/Early May. They were on occasion a bit loud but for the most part we didn't really notice them too much. We still had a great time and enjoyed the resort.
