A friend has come to me for advice because I'm usually the resident Disney expert, but this time I don't know the answer so I'm turning to you guys! She's having trouble finding a hotel room that will accomodate 2 adults, an 18 year old, and two preteens. She doesn't want to book two seperate rooms. Are there any Disney resorts that will hold them in one room, or should I just point her to some offsite Hotels with suites, a 2-3 bedroom condo, or a vacation home?

BWI, YC, BC, CR, GF, Polynesian for deluxes resorts - two queen beds and a day bed.

POR has some rooms with trundles, but they may be crowded. Two double beds and a trundle.

Ft Wilderness has cabins that sleep 6.

All Stars Family Suites sleep 6. One queen bed, one double sleeper sofa, one sleeper chair and one little sleeper hassock.

I believe all the resorts that have daybeds will accomodate them. POLY, Grand Floridian, ... most of the deluxes have those daybeds. The All Star Family Suites will accomodate them and we have done that since we're five people too! The Fort cabins will accomodate them too, but they are more expensive and you'd need to rent the golf cart as well ... good luck to her!

Your friend may want to consider 2 rooms at a value. With one teen being 18 I think that would be considered an adult and Disney charges extra for more than 2 adults in a room. With two value rooms they could put 2 adults and the 18 in different rooms with no extra charge. We are a family of 5 (including Grammy) and that is what we do. We will be at the Pop in July.

A golf cart in the cabins is nice, but definitely not a have to. They are a bit more expensive than a moderate, but comprable to a deluxe, plus they have full kitchens, a seperate sleeping area and all the wonderful ammenities of Fort Wilderness!:goodvibes

Just an FYI:

Actually the hassock (ottoman) folds out into a standard size twin bed.

Here are photos from the DIS resort page showing how the beds fold out and of the beds when they are all folded out.

Family Suite info:

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept. of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Info thread--Pullouts in Family Suites at ASMU with photos of how the pullout is supported.

Here is the layout of the Family Suites:

They:

-Sleep up to 6 (plus one child under age 3 in a Pak-n-Play crib)
-Studio amenities and separate sleeping areas giving more privacy than a standard room.
-Queen bed, full-size pullout sofa, convertible ottoman & chair sleepers (4 separate sleepers)
-Private master bedroom and family room have 27” flat CRT TV and high speed Internet access.
-Kitchenette with microwave, small refrigerator (4.3 cu. ft) and coffee pot
-Two-full bathrooms

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

We have 2 teenagers and a preteen and have reached the point where we always get 2 rooms so that we will have 2 bathrooms, especially since one of our teens is a girl. Trying to get out the door to be at the parks by opening would be a nightmare with 5 people and only 1 bathroom (at least it would to me and my family). The family suite looks great, because it will comfortably sleep five and it gives you the all-important 2 bathrooms.

Disney on-site options for families of 5, lowest, going up in cost....

  • Port Orleans Riverside, 1 room (1 child must be small enough for a trundle bed)
  • Value Resorts - 2 rooms
  • All-Star Music Family Suite
  • Fort Wildness Cabins
  • Deluxe Resort (any room for 5)
  • Villa - 2 bedroom and a few family-suites scattered a a few resorts.

This can be a problem with the 5 person rooms - having more than two adults, but I'm fairly certain that with the ASMu Family Suites you can have all six as adults without altering the price, and I think (though less certain about this) that the same holds true for the Wilderness Cabins. Although with the sleeping arrangements in those (Double Bed, Bunk Beds and Murphy Bed) - I wonder if they limit it to 4 adults. We've never considered one of those (a little too expensive), so I don't know the policy there.
