I was looking at the info that I have available and the best that I could find was that AKV was the only DVC resort that offers 5 in a 1B. Is Disney firm on 4 in a 1B? I have DS8, DS2, and DS3weeks. I see that the price of a 1B at VWL in Jan. is 22 points and a 2 bed at OKW is 22 points.

I want to make sure that we have room for the kids when we buy our DVC home. I want AKV for the kids, VWL for me and my wife but OKW on a resale might make the most sense. I am considering a 150 OKW resale at about $73 per point for the family $10,950 and a 50 point VB for me and the misses at around $65 per point $3250. Buying from Disney at AVK is around $15,000 to $16,000 for 160 points. I know what makes the most sense financially, but the thought of the kids at AKV is really cool. Is a 2 bed at OKW more logical?

Thanks for any help.

AKV and BLT will sleep 5 (pull out + sleeper chair). All other resorts sleep 4 + a child under 3.

Here is a good site to check out the resorts, see pics, read about them, etc. OKW and SSR are more "condo" style resorts. All of the others feel more hotel-like, because they are off of or close to a main lobby. Personally, I love the condo feel, so OKW and SSR feel most like home to me. If you've never been to or seen OKW, the rooms are HUGE. All the other resort rooms are pretty close to the same size.

Don't forget that no matter which resort you own at, you can book any of the other DVC locations 7 months ahead. That might not always be possible for some of the smaller locations like VWL and BCV during high capacity times, but you will usually be able to book anything at that point with using the waitlist etc.

We own 380 points at OKW, and love the lower dues there. We also own a few points at AKV too, and it is quickly becoming a favorite of ours as well. That being said, I do use my OKW points to book at AKV too, since we don't have enough AKV points to book there all the time.

Since at least one of your children is under the age of 3 you will have no problem with booking the 5 of you into a unit that sleeps 4. The rule is 4 plus one under 3.

Technically the rule is 4 and the one under 3 is a courtesy they extend.

Hmmmm...are you sure? Even when we took the tour (way back when) we were told that the max was 4 plus one under 3. I know that DVC guides have been known to "bend" the truth a bit from time to time, but I have always heard that this was the rule, not just a courtesy.

100%, look at your paperwork and on the website. You will not see any reference to age related to occupancy on official documents. Realize I'm one that thinks they should enforce occupancy though the ONE under 3 is reasonable. If you want to know why I feel that way, PM or email me and I'll tell you.
