??? Which resort

Two adults and two children, looking at going in April 2014, would like to stay on site for four nights, where is the best place to book? They won't be spending a lot of time in the room. This will be the first trip for the children, ages 9 and 13. They are looking at flights frogm Halifax for poss April 2-12. They would consider Portland if the savings were great enough. Does anyone have any suggestions.

My 10 and 11 year say the "POP". Airfares are a kicker .. +$2800 from Halifax. So far Portland has been showing higher prices than previous years. (ie 300 to 400)

POP would be my preference, too, as long as you remember that rooms at all of the Values have double beds. In order to get queen beds you need to move up to any moderate except Carribbean Beach. Also the Alligator Bayou rooms have the additional murphy bed for smaller kids. That's the way we travelled last fall with friends who had a 10 and a 12 year old who wouldn't sleep with anyone.

Just another possibility for you.

My kids always vote pop is price is the biggest issue, otherwise it us port Orleans French quarter. We like resorts with just one bus stop.

On site would be a must for you the enjoy the most of Disney Magic, Pop is our favorite, with or without the kids. It's value, very colorfull, well based, and as it's own bus schedule, so less wait than the AllStars. But the main thing is that you can never experience a bad Disney trip, it does not exist!!!

Not that I am aware of ... only Disney resorts

The family's budget is a big factor. Moderate and deluxe resorts would offer some extras that values wouldn't (thinking specifically of a waterslide at the main pool, which the kids would love) but values will be the cheapest option if cost is a consideration.

Bonnet Creek would offer the most space for their money (by a long shot) but they could not take advantage of the DDP (if that was their preference) and Disney transportation (meaning they would also need a car rental). Bonnet Creek also has lazy rivers and some wonderful pool features that the kids would love. Another bonus of BC is two bathrooms and a full kitchen in the villa .

I am a big advocate of offsite, but for a first visit, onsite is sometimes the easiest way to go. Port Orleans Riverside would get my vote if the family can afford the price increase over a value. The proximity to DTD is so nice......being able to take a boat there in the evening for some shopping and dining after a full day at the park. The resort is beautiful, has a great food court, and the main pool (Ol' Man Island) is great fun.

My kids are younger but we love staying at POP. We don't spend a lot of downtime in the room so the fact that it's small doesn't really bother us (except when I'm trying to unpack and find room for our family of 5's stuff to be put away...). The pool is fun, the resort is fun and the food court is great

I book flights out of Portland for September 2013. I have a family of 5. Flights were close to $4000 out of Halifax, cost me $1100 from Portland. Worth the drive! (Booked with Southwest)
