The kids and I stayed at Sports back in Jan, but hubby is saying that they can't go this time for TOT run in Oct. If it's only me I wanna stay on property at PO, but even with the rundisney discount, not sure if we can afford it. Running into the problem of we actually have a timeshare at Sheraton Vistana Resorts, but I hate to drive and not sure how often the shuttles run because we haven't stayed there in awhile. I asked hubby about a roommate, but he's not too keen on that idea, but that would solve my driving problem, lol. Which resort would be a better choice for a 43 yr old solo traveler that's on a budget, Sports or PO?

Hi fellow TOT solo runner! This is my 1st runDisney race so I can't comment on the shuttles but I plan on staying at All Star for the convenience and price (I'm a grad student on a budget!) I've stayed there before and have always felt safe and I can't justify spending the extra money on a moderate when I'm barely in the room anyway.

I would say that Sports is your best bet if you are on a budget. It is also one of the more popualr locations for people particiapting in the races so the shuttles run frequently. Nevertheless it is best to get on a shuttle as soon as you can because as previously mentioned Sports is very popular resort so the lines to get on the shuttles are long.

Might I suggest staying at Pop Century? It is the newer of the cheaper value resorts and if you ride the busses it doesn't have to go to three resorts before going to it's destination. I like the All-Star resorts too but don't care for having to stop at three resorts on the way. I haven't stayed there in a while but I'm sure they have refurbished them. Then again it might be a nice atmosphere at the All-Star resorts if that is where most of the other runners stay.

When I was talking about the shuttles, I meant the ones at Sheraton :) The ones at Sports during marathon weekend weren't that bad. I think the longest ride time was 20-30 min to DTD. What are the shuttles like at PO?
