Which Resort?

Hello,

I'm trying to plan a WDW trip for next year. I know it's early, but I do like to get started on things so I don't have to worry about them later. Anyways, onto the post...

We would like to take a short WDW trip next spring break, or summer. We'd stay on-site for 4 nights in a Deluxe Resort. Here is my plan so far...

Day 1 - Magic Kingdom
Day 2 - Epcot
Day 3 - MGM Studios
Day 4 - Animal Kingdom
Day 5 - Magic Kingdom

My current dilemma is where to stay. I know we'll want to be close to the Magic Kingdom or Epcot, but I don't want to stay at the Grand Floridian or the Contemporary. We'll have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and the Polynesian before, so I'm still not sure about those.

If anybody could give me any tips where to stay, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Simon :)

I would go with BC or YC for being close to Epcot. We loved Dolphin as well if that is an option for you. There is nothing quite like strolling back to the room after watching Illuminations IMHO.

Even though we had a few problems at the BC we loved the resort. It is so nice to have the waterpark right there. The food at Cape May is great as well as Art the greeter. It is like a NE beach house and the colors of the resort are so relaxing. We were able to stay on the second floor (after a miserable room change) and we loved just walking up the double sized stair case at night instead of waiting for the elevator like every one else. I would stay there again if I stayed onsite.

I think you'll fall in love with the Poly, and want to return for your next trip. We just returned from a wonderful visit and thoroughly enjoyed the Poly. It's in a great Monorail location - quick to both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, the staff is very attentive and the dinner at Ohana is more than memorable:thumbsup2

We just got back Monday from a one week stay in a 2 bedroom at the BCV. We explore the Yacht and Beach club and loved both. Since both resorts share the same facilities- gym, restaurants, AMAZING pool, jacuzzi, spa, etc. there really isn't much to choose from other than the resorts' individual decor.

The Yacht Club may seem a bit more stuffy- it's interior decorated to look like a captain's cabin in a very stately ship. This is evident from the large globe in the main lobby immediately as you enter the Yacht Club. The lighting in the lobby is also a bit darker and more serious. Of course, kids are still more than welcome and enjoy the same benefits as the kids at the Beach Club.

The Beach Club is interior decorated to resemble grandmother's cottage in Cape Cod. The lobby is bright and has a quaint appeal to it. The furniture is appointed in pastel colors and has a very comfortable feeling to it. It can also be interpreted (in the extreme) to be shabby, as everything is supposed to look a bit worn in.

You really can't go wrong with either resorts. My suggestion is to go on allears and check out the resorts' pics and make a choice from there. The walk to Epcot is roughly five minutes (the rooms in the Beach Club are slightly closer- maybe by 1 min- than the YC). Everything in the two resorts are in walking distance- the pool and ferry dock is in the middle of the two resorts. Each of the resorts also has its own bus stop for MK, AK, and DTD.

However, I did notice that you are spending two days at MK, so you may want to look into the MK resorts again. But... it is also important to note that you are spending two days- one each at Epcot and MGM- so therefore you are basically even. In terms of the best pool, I would go with the BC or YC hands down. You also have a superior location in terms of restaurants, as you are right on the Boardwalk, have the YC and BC restuarants on hand, not to mention all of the wonderful restaurants in Epcot.

If you dont want to stay at the GF I would recommend the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The savannah views were really good and the rooms were nice too. Also the interior corridors were good especially when it rains. Otherwise I would recommend the GF.

Hi! I see you are planning to visit MK for 2 days (mono rail resorts) and 2days at epcot/MGM(epcot resorts) It's a tough pick but my vote goes to the epcot resorts.:thumbsup2

We're staying at the Polynesian this summer, so I think I can get some ideas from there. I might decide on the Wilderness Lodge for a Magic Kingdom resort, or maybe the Contemporary. It all depends if the CR gets the Villas finished.

Anyway, I talked this all over with DW and she said that we would probably stay for 6 nights in a Deluxe because that is DS's graduation/birthday wish.
