Okay, well the good news is I was just contacted today and I can officially start planning because the 2008 prices are out!:yay: :cheer2: I'm super excited. The thing is, I have to figure out what resort to make our required reservations at, and I do not know anything about the disney resorts as I have never stayed in them. So, I was kinda freaking out about that when I thought to myself, self, these wonderful women on the DIS would be able to help me make this decision. So, I am going ask all of you, out of the moderate resorts, Coronado Springs, Caribbean Beach, POFQ, and POR, what would all of you suggest?

Thank you SOO much!

Here is my opinions on the moderate resorts

Coronado Springs - haven't really been around there, but IMO I feel it is to far from a lot of the Disney stuff.

POFQ - It is a nice resort with pretty scenery to walk around. I also like the Riverside as well, which is right next door. You can get a boat to DTD, and you aren't too far from MK. The other resorts aren't too bad, with exception of AK.

Caribbean Beach - My fav of the mods. It is nicely themed and practically centerally located. Even though it is in the middle of the Studios, Epcot, and the Boardwalk; you don't feel crowded. It feels very private from the other stuff. YOu also can see some of the fireworks at night from parts of the resort.

I would go on www.allearsnet.com and look up the resorts. They have pictures, including room pics; restaurant listings at the resort, and people's reviews. It is a great site.

Also check the Resorts Boards here on DIS!

Coronado Springs - I stayed there once and we had a big room (it was a corner with 2 double beds) and I liked it. It is a huge resort - it's a convention resort so you could have a lot of walking to the restaurants/food court depending on where your room is. It's pretty though, so the walk is nice.

Caribbean Beach - my favorite mod! I've stayed there 5 times and I really like it. I find it romantic, convenient, and beautiful theming!

POFQ/POR - I stayed there when it was Dixie Landings twice. It was o.k. but not my favorite by any means. I haven't stayed there since they renamed the resort. I almost stayed there last weekend actually, but decided to stay at a friend's house instead. I have read very good things about POR - that it's small and romantic.

Good Luck choosing. You really can't go wrong with a Disney Resort :thumbsup2

I was confused too when it came to booking. I ended up picking Coronado Springs, but when we went to book rooms for my siblings several months later the entire resort was booked out and I had to switch resorts. We ended up going with the Carribean Beach Resort so I am glad there are so many good reviews on this one. I was a little upset that we couldn't get Coronado Springs for everyone, but I have never been to any of them so it doesn't really matter. My original choice were based solely on the pictures of the pool. :goodvibes

The Caribbean Beach Resort is my favorite. It's close enough to all the "action" but feels like your hundreds of miles away when you're there. We stay there every chance we get.

Thanks everybody! After what you all said, and looking at pics of it, I decided (with minimal help from DF, haha, grrr:headache: ) that we'd go with Caribbean Beach. I'm so excited, I figured since I can't yet go to the real thing, I'll settle with that!

I loved the carribean beach and they did rennovated the rooms about 4 years ago. It was a beautiful property, very large. I have stayed at POR when it was Dixie landings and like another poster said, it was nice but not my favorite, though I was younger then and perhaps I could not appreciate it as much. I have been to POFQ but haven't stayed there, but people that do seem to rave about it.

Thanks so much for the info/opinions. We've been going back and forth too. Having family live super close to Disney, we've never stayed at a Disney resort...and now with the 2008 prices going up, we'll definitely be staying at a Moderate resort...so at least it narrows that part down!

I have to throw a slight curveball into the mix. Port Orleans-Riverside is by far my favorite. I agree with most people Coronado is way to spread out. The thing that we enjoy about Riverside is the peacefulness of the resort and the amount of pools that are spread throughout. We prefer to go swimming in a quiet pool with less kids and Riverside gives that option since there are 6 pools throughout the resort. Plus, if you have guests with a lot of kids there is Ol' Man Island that has the waterslide. Also, if you request Alligator Bayou section there are trundle beds in all the rooms allowing you to sleep up to 5 people (even my DF has slept on these and he is not a little guy.) Also, the boat to DTD is peaceful and the mansions offer a great view for a nice stroll through the resort. We also enjoy renting bikes or you can take a romantic carriage ride in the evenings. I have found that it all boils down to personal preference when it comes to the resorts. :)

I think you will like Caribbean Beach. We stayed there last summer. I had read that there were a lot of kids running around, but we did not find that to be true. It was quiet and romantic. It was great to wake up and walk around the resort each morning. And the hammocks are great! My only complaint was the bus system, but who can complain about free transportation really? :)

Hi...I had the same question as well but my best friend who has been to Disney 22 times and she's only 24 said that the Port Orleans French Quarter is really nice. They have stayed everywhere and of course they loved The Polynesian and Grand Floridian but they said for the money POFQ was a step above the rest of the moderate resorts. I took her advice b/c she's my Disney Expert...haha.

Check out my CSR website below for pics and info. Best pool, hot tub, transportation and food options. CSR is a very romantic resort, especially at night. Walk on the white sandy beaches or swing on the hammocks. Walk over the wooden bridge and around the lake. CSR also has spa and salon for his/her massages.

You know what they are all great... I LOVE POFQ... We stayed there for my moms birthday and we had such a great time there.. Beignets are so delicious

We stayed at the caribbean beach resort in 2003 and absolutely loved it.
It wasn't noisy (like pop century etc), in fact it was so peaceful.
The beaches are lovely especially nice whilst swining in the hammock with your loved one and a couple of tequilas. ahhh, I could just be there now....sigh!
Good choice.

oh...we are sooo torn now. I really want POFQ, DF wants CBR, we don't want the trouble of splitting our time between 2 resorts, but maybe we will anyway, we'll see. Thanks so much for the pics of CSR, now I'm leaning that way too! Walking and being away from everything really doesn't bother me.

Thanks for the info!

I can't say anything about the others because out of the moderates, I've only stayed at Coronado Springs. At the time we were deciding between POFQ and CSR. I forget why we went with CSR (this was 2005) but we absolutely loved it. The pools are amazing. Loved the hammocks on the beach. And as mentioned before, it definitely has a romantic feel, especially night. So yeah, I can't compare, but we loved CSR.
