My next trip will be just my son and I.His dad lives in orlando, and he will be spending time with him too. Which resort do you think would be best... We have stayed at WL and AkL..and we would both like to try something different. My last visit, I visited POR and PORFQ and I don't think that they would be his style.

I think your DS would CSR. The main pool area is great for kids. Check out pics on my CSR website below

CSR has a pool that older kids can enjoy. The best pool is the Beach club/Yacht Club.

:rotfl:
I was thinking CSR also!!
My 14 yr old DD and I went in June and she loves this resort!!!
Loves the food court too.
We have been to CSR 4 times and it is still our favorite.
For a teenager....it doesn't have that "childish" (DD's words) look like the values, and isn't "stuffy and too adult looking" like the deluxes.
POFQ and POR aren't her style either.
BTW.... she loves AKL too. :goodvibes

BC, CR (awesome arcade), CBR or CSR would be my my suggestions. HAve fun!

I have 3 kids ages 5, 9, (girls) and a 15 yr old son. Their FAVE resort - of ALL WDW deluxes - and we have stayed in all except BWI - is Contemporary, hands down a 100% vote from them.

They love the theming, restaurants, shops, and of course the super FUN arcade. We have stayed at the CR 2 - 3 times a year over the past 14 yrs and they ALWAYS want to stay there instead of any other deluxe resort. They never tire of the CR. They refer to it as their "home away from home" - which it just about it as we have spent so much time there. They don't even care that at the other deluxes we stay full concierge.(which I prefer!! ;) ) They LOVE the CR.

They enjoy walking b/f to the MK, the monorail going thru the CR, the fact that the transportation & ticket center is the first stop & it's easy to catch the Epcot monorail.......It is a fun place and with the new rehabed rooms it will be awesome. (although, I know my kids really like the rooms with their present decor! :earboy2: )

Good luck & Happy planning. I don't think you can go wrong if you stay at the CR with your son. It is a hopping fun place.

My children's favorite has always been the Polynesian. The youngest is now 19 but throughout their lives, it has been the constant favorite of all three. Both our sons as well as our daughter even prefer the Polynesian pools to SAB! :earseek:

There is so much for a teen to do at the Polynesian...boats, beaches, bikes and pools. The Polynesian also offers the best transportation options since you can walk to the TTC and take the Epcot monorail without the need to transfer. To the MK, the Polynesian is the first stop for the little launches although we usually monorail to the MK and sometimes enjoy the launch on the way back.

One of the best parts of the Polynesian is the feeling of relaxation that it exudes.

Have fun deciding. :flower:

We've gone with a son that age twice and they would both choose either YC or BC. This is both b/c the pool is the best -- they like the slide AND all those hot tubs -- and b/c MK is no longer their favorite park. One likes Epcot best and the other MGM Studios. The Boardwalk is also a good place for a kid that age to go if he needs to get away for a while -- something sometimes needed in a family of 5!

If you need to go with a moderate, my boys would choose CSR.

I would choose Coronado. We went the first time last year. My DD then was 14. We are going back this year. She loves this resort.

My 14 year old nephew loves the Contemporary because, according to him, they have the best arcade. He spent a lot of resort time there.

How much freedom do you allow your 14yo?

Would you let them go on the bus w/o you? If no, then opt for CR - it's only a monorail (1st stop - away).

If you would then try CSR. Everyone loves the theme.

What about BWI? It's only a boat ride away from two parks, it has ESPN (and two arcades) a good pool and the games on the boardwalk.

CR or Boardwalk.

I have a 14-year-old son, and we stayed at CBR this April -- both he and my 11-year-old son LOVED it! In fact, the 14-year-old insists that we MUST stay there again next time! The beaches, the hammocks, the food court, and the boat rentals -- they just loved the whole thing! I'm sure the other resorts are great too, but they liked it even better than AKL or WL where we've stayed before! Just another opinion.....

I'd vote for the Contemporary. There's a lot for a teen to do there in a close proximity (huge arcade, pool, marina, MK).

I was thinking along those lines that all of you suggested. I really couldn't decide and you all confirmed my opinions. So it will be either CRS or BC..... or Contemp. or Poly or BW or CBR........ LOL.....did I leave anything out?

MY DD is 14. She stayed at the Poly for the first time last Oct. with her girlfriend and family. She just loved this resort. Said it was her favorite. She loved to eat at Ohana's, like the pool, etc.

When I was his age I loved the Contemporary. Still do. The arcade there is big, and actually has air hockey tables. It's convenient to the food court, too! It has the cooler water sports available, like parasailing, and there is something very grown up but still disney-magical about eating under the monorail. (At that time I felt like the Poly was my "kid" resort and didn't want to play in the sand anymore.)

Hi there :wave2:

Have you thought of showing him pictures of each resort and asking his opinion?? :) During our trip in 2001, we stayed at CBR and the Grand Floridian. We had dinner one night at the Polynesian and BOTH of my sons (now ages 17 and 14) asked to stay there the next time. We stayed there this past summer and they really enjoyed it. Since there are two of them and they are a bit "older", we allowed them to travel to DisneyQuest each day, and to walk around the grounds, on their own.

I have to say though, that they both LOVED CBR, the Wilderness Lodge, and the Grand Floridian, too. :earboy2:

I hope you have a great time, no matter where you stay! :)

P.S. I have pictures of the above resorts, plus some Disney restaurants, on my web site, if you care to take a look. :3dglasses The link is below, in my signature. :flower:

yacht and beach club has stormalong bay which is a big hit with older kids.

personally, I like the theming there -
