Which resort to choose?

Here's the scenario. We have "free" airline tickets for August 22-30. I received a $3500 bonus at work and DH says we can spend it how I want!!Woo-hoo! So here's the tough question. Knowing that we "saved" about $800 on the airfare, do I want to blow extra money on a resort like Cont- MK tower view, poly LV, or go somewhere else and splurge on other things? We are willing to go with a moderate or deluxe. It will be DH, DD6, DS8, and myself. Oh, and I already have ressies at the dolphin $184/night with a resort view w/ balcony. DH says just make the ressie and be done with it. :rotfl2: But I can't, it's not that simple. On my list of resorts to try are all deluxes but WL and GF and CSR at the moderate level. Thanks for your help.

If you choose a moderate, CSR is the one! Your kids will love the pool!

CSR is a large resort that does not share services with other resorts and even offers some deluxe amenities because it is a convention resort.

CSR offers a salon, a spa, a gym that even other moderates do not offer. CSR offers an internal shuttle system provided by golf carts to assist in getting to and from the main building to the villages. Again, it is not a perfect system but it is something not offered at other resorts.

CSR has terrific transportation. It is not share with any other resort (like POR / POFQ) and it only has 4 bus stops within the resort (vs 8 at CBR).

And being a convention resort, the buses seem less crowded because guests are busy with their conventions.

CSR has the best pool of the mods and probably the second best on WDW property. Best mod pool. It offers a great slide (123 ft long), an arcade, a sand volleyball court, a playground and kiddie pool at the main pool area.

It will come down to your tastes. Good luck deciding!

If you're going to splurge, check out the Boardwalk Inn Lake view room. We had a great view of the Boardwalk, YC/BC, Swan/Dolphin, best seats for street performers, and more. The location is great (between Epcot and MGM), the amenities are top notch, pool is the best on property (imo), and my favorite part is the restaurants and attractions that are just a walk away. :3dglasses

I'd say go withthe Poly or CR they are so convenient with the monrail sysetm not to mention the views you can get. Als they have the Electric water pageant each nite.

Have you thought about dividing your trip between two of the Disney resort.
Disney will transfer your luggage to the second resort for you. Pro, you get two experiences in the same trip, con- packing/unpacking twice. The packing thing is not a problem for me because I don't unpack. Clean clothes in suit case, dirty clothes in bag.
Maybe you pick one and your spouse the other.

My vote is for either the Boardwalk Inn or the Beach Club...you can't beat the location, and the resorts are beautiful!!! :sunny:

I would love to do a split trip, but DH would not. Thanks for the suggestion though. Should I add that we do one trip a year? And this is the same problem I have every trip....Let me also add that within the next year or so we will buy DVC, so I am looking at really not doing one of those resorts...yet!

How about Animal Kingdom Lodge? That's a great once in a lifetime experience. Your children are exactly the right age to love it!!

Personally if money is not that much of a problem I would go with Polynesian, I stayed there once for one night, but could never afford it usually. Plus you are on the monorail so you can easily get to MK and EPCOT without standing for bus, or driving.

If it were me I would go with the Polyneisian. I've never stayed there but have always wanted to. It looks like a great place to stay and is located just across the lagoon from Magic Kingdom. Riding the monorail is a transportation option which would definately be a huge plus in my book.

I'm a DVC member since 2000(Welcome Home) best money I ever spent. Never have to worry about accommodations again. OKW is my home resort and we love it.

If I could stay anywhere I must admit we would probably split a stay between GF and CR. GF for me and CR for my DH. Afcourse if I had to pick just one I would do GF. But I heard the Poly was also nice. Either way I thik you will be happy on a monorail resort because of the convenience. princess:

I think the CR, tower, MK view would be a perfect choice for your family. You'd be able to return to your room and watch the fireworks from your balcony. The children in their pj's while you all have a nice drink. How utterly relaxing and lovely. Have a great trip whatever resort you choose.

I am also a dvc owner, and if i was to ever not stay in a dvc resort, i would have to try animal kingdom lodge if i could afford it, but with young children i would probably choose a moderate and splurge on extras, maybe take the kids on one of the tours, we did the family scavenger hunt and the kids loved it. there are so many choices, good luck and have a magical time.

go with CSR - then put the rest of the money into your DVC fund....

on this trip visit all the DVC resorts - so you will know which one you want to buy. You can buy SSR through DVC - but the others through resalers.

If you go Deluxe I'd choose Poly...
If you go Mod definetly CSR...
Have a great trip pixiedust:
