We live a lot closer to Hilton Head than any of the other Disney resorts. Does it make more sense to make that your home resort?

Is the reservation time 11 months VS 7 months the only difference regarding your HOME resort and the other Disney resorts?

I think the booking windows are very important in many cases, especially at the busy times of year. :sunny:

We chose Beach Club Villas in 2002. It was just being constructed, but Vero Beach & Hilton Head were still being sold. And you could easily get contracts for Wilderness Lodge and Old Key West on resale.

The selling point for us on BCV was Storm-A-Long Bay. Love that pool, and glad we can use the 11-month window to get in.

The best resort for a home resort? The one(s) you want to stay at the most. That's why we own at OKW, BCV and VWL.

If you routinely don't think you'll be able to plan/book your trips at least 7 months in advance, then it doesn't matter which DVC location you purchase points at...go for the combination of low point price and low annual maintenance fees.

If you don't care where you stay with DVC, then home resort is not as important.

But if you want to be able to stay at HH during the summer, the booking advantage of having that as your home is important. That would be a good home resort if you thought you were going to visit HH fairly often, and WDW from time to time (every couple of years or so).

But if you intend to primarily go to HH only with the infrequent WDW trip, I think many timeshare experts would tell you that DVC is not the best economical decision to vacation primarily at HH. You do pay an upcharge for DVC due to the on-site booking capability at WDW, and if you're not going to go to WDW fairly often then DVC might not be your best choice.

As for what other DVC might make a good home for you, that depends on a lot of things. Age and number of children, personal preferences for accommodation amenities and locations, theming preferences, your age (to see if the extra 12 years at SSR is important to you).

Good luck...ask a lot of questions and make an informed decision on this important purchase. :)

I agree. If HHI is where you will most likely stay overall, then that is where you should buy. If you aren't fussy about WHICH resort at WDW, then buy where it is easy to use.

I agree with the buy where you want to stay the most.
