Which resort has most king beds?

If you're seeing FL resident rates for DVC rooms, my guess is that it's a cash reservation booked directly with Disney which would be different than a DVC point rental reservation. If you're renting points, you are going through a DVC owner who has agreed to make a reservation for you using their points. You can arrange this yourself through a forum (like DisBoards) or through a broker that facilitates the whole process for you and makes it as seamless as possible - David's DVC Rental is a big one. With a point rental, you pay a set price per point so there would not be a FL resident rate with a point rental. Also with point rentals, it's no different than how a DVC owner stays - you don't receive daily housekeeping, you generally need to book 7-11 months in advance for the best shot at the resorts and days you want, and it's not refundable.

So if I book through Disney for cash I do get housekeeping? If there are rooms available on the Disney site would that mean there would be some available through the renting process? I'm going in May so I'm already past the 11 and 7 month window. Probably won't be picking a hotel until February so it'll be even closer to the date.

If you book through Disney with cash, you will get daily housekeeping. We've always booked DVC through Disney (we've never rented points). We LOVE DVC one-bedrooms. If you can find one at a good discount, for your trip, BCV would be great. Fantastic resort, great pool and right next to EP. We also love BWV, but most people seem to like the pool at BC better (we like them both).

The Swan/Dolphin also has a fantastic pool and recreation complex. If you are interested, I would definitely price out a king room there. Make sure you go directly to the Swan/Dolphin website as you will find the best prices there. You should also consider joining SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest) if you want to book there as you'll get even better pricing. We've gotten very good discounts there.

If you book on cash through Disney you are paying way higher prices than renting and yes you will get daily Mousekeeping. The inventory available on the Disney site is TOTALLY different than the DVC inventory and no indication of what might be available to rent. You well may be late for points to rent.
You want lots. Deluxe accommodations at a savings on short notice with a King bed. You need to whittle down your Wish List.

Grand Floridian has bookable king bed rooms. Contemporary BWI BC have bookable king bed suites. Guaranteed deluxe king rooms usually are more expensive to book as well. I have had good results requesting king beds in Boardwalk and Grand Floridian. I've never received one staying at Wilderness or AKL. I was told most kings at AKL have accessible baths and reserved more or less for those who required them.

All Villas except Poly have a king bed in the 1 bedroom. There is less availability in the Villa resorts as Disney "owns" only a small percentage of the them. I don't have any experience to offer renting points though.

We just stayed at BWI in a studio and I found the queen bed very comfortable. Our cat usually takes up most of our king bed at home so I hardly noticed the size difference!

Thanks everyone! This was all really helpful! Getting a king is my number one priority so if the price is right I'm thinking we'll get the one bedroom villa that guarantees it. I saw Grand Floridian had a specific category for King but its like double the cost of a normal room so that's probably not going to happen (even though I'd love to stay at that resort one day)

A 1 BR Villa through Disney is going to be very expensive, It is probably too late to rent a near park 1 BR, but you might have luck with OKW or SSR.

It seems the villa's went on sale for the early 2017 Florida Resident discount. If that happens again for May it might be an option.

We have always requested a King room at the Poly and gotten it. There are quite a few King roms in Rarotonga and Samoa.

I really want a room that has a king bed. It seems like these are far and few between. Which resort has the most so there is a better shot at getting one?

Generally, when I stay deluxe it is at the GF. If I book solo, I've always gotten 2 queens. If I've booked 2 of us I request a king and have always gotten it -- the one time I booked two and requested 2 queens, they put me in a king room and I had them change me, as my 14 year old niece was coming with me on that trip. Anymore than 2, I've always gotten 2 queens.
