My vote would be the Contemporary. I've seen trinkets and jewelry at their gift shops I haven't even seen in World of Disney, and their liquor selection is the best in WDW :)

I'd say the GF is second. What's your pick?

I completely agree with you. I love to go shopping at the Contemporary and have found/seen things there that I haven't seen anyplace else. GF is a second runner up and I would have to say Boardwalk area is third.

I didn't think about this until now. I can't wait to do some resort hopping shopping.:D

I agree with Contemporary & GF (plus the CMs who work at the Mickey shop on 2nd floor of GF are about the nicest in all of WDW) but AKL has a neat African themed shop for something really different. We brough home some beautiful and reasonably priced baskets last November to give as spur-of-the-moment Christmas gifts and our friends were wild for them.

I love the whole monorail circuit for shopping. I think each monorail resort has its strengthts although CR does have the best selection of jewelry and Disney merchandise. A lot of sq. ft. on that concourse.

I guess I'll have to get over to the BW more often. All I can think of off hand is that "general store." What else is there?

Can't beat SSR for shopping, it being adjacent to Downtown Disney and all.

I'm sorry - "reasonably priced"? Are you sure you were on Disney property? heheheheh

I totally agree though - AKL has some REALLY nice stuff in their gift shop. I fell in love with the 'prints' of the lodge in September...i had to buy and bring one home in january when we went back! It's hanging in our family room - I think of Disney and AKL every saturday when I dust it! heeh

I forgot to mention all the clothes sold on the first floor of the Polynesian's Great Ceremonial House, by Capt Cook's.

I think the Polynesian and CR have the most variety because when they were first built they were designed as "resorts" in the fullest sense of the word: when WDW consisted only of the Magic Kingdom, the resorts had to offer the guest more to do. Maybe that's why their standard rooms are larger than the other deluxes, and why there's more shopping variety.

The Contemporary for sure! We always do a little shopping on our first night, after we eat at Chef Mickey's. They have a really nice "trinket" shop...lots of neat things for the kids. It's a good place to pick up the autograph book and pen, too...we did that with our youngest this year, as it was our first night and he didn't have one yet.

Also liked the GF...we went in there one evening and the CM's were doing "free" crafts with the kids, so my youngest particpated. The CM's were VERY nice!!!

My vote is for the Contemporary and The Poly. I have shoped at almost every resort and I keep going back to those two the most :)

My vote would go to Contemporary Resort also, though if you say at Port Orlean's, Downtown Disney and the best shopping is just a short boat ride away.

The monorail resort gift shops are great. I gotta go with CR for the best selection of all the resorts. I prefer the resort shops to WOD.:earsboy:

I haven't visited them all, but my vote is AKL. I really like the African items there, bought a beautiful handpainted pitcher in 2002, and plan to go back this trip.

Another vote for the CR!
With the Poly and GF and AKL tied for SECOND!

CR has a wonderful combination of a good sundries store, liqour store, kids' store, character store, men's and ladies' fashions and a very nice houseware/home decor store.
Per square foot, the CR offers the most shopping of any WDW resort!

I own a resort boutique and the Poly ladies' store has alot of wonderful lines that I carry that are unique and not found at the other resorts.

GF, has a wonderful selection of luxury items....the only place on Disney property (besides Epcot's France) that carries quality cosmetics and fragrances. And, of course, there is the Bally's store.

The AKL's Zawadi Marketplace has the best selection of unique artwork and ethnic jewelry...and at very reasonable prices.

All of the above have CMs that are wonderfully friendly and helpful!

Happy shopping!

I agree, stinkerbelle, those AKL prints are fantastic - DD and I almost bought one in April. We love Zawadi Marketplace for unique items. And, our second choice is the Poly for their clothes and watches. We really don't shop much at WDW, but we seem to have lots of things from the Poly!:teeth: Oh, and I love the area at GF with the neat household/kitchen items!

For the most unusual items AKL has everyone else beat hands down.

It depends on what you're shopping for.

Anne
