Which resort for your honeymoon/wedding?

we're being married at the boardwalk because that is where we met on my college program 5 years ago, and we're staying at the poly for our poly-moon because it is supremely fabulous!

We're staying at the Boardwalk...and getting married there. Maybe we're just lazy! :rotfl: Since we are using a CM discount, we couldn't be picky. I think the Poly would be really romantic... or POR for a moderate location. You can find romance all over WDW especially on your honeymoon, so any resort will be perfect!!

the only time i've stayed at a deluxe was at the GF, and i got engaged on the balcony of our room there...so i might be a little biased, but the GF is very romantic and in a great location. I've always wanted to stay at the Poly because of the atmosphere there...and will be staying at BW on our wedding night, which i think is another beautiful location, although i haven't seen any of the rooms yet. there's so many great resorts to choose from, it just depends on what you're looking for!

Which one did you choose?

Stellablue, welcome to the Dis (I see that you joined this month).

I have stayed in all of Disney's resorts in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World (Value, Moderate, Deluxe, DVC, and even Fort Wilderness). I have enjoyed every single one of them. Honestly.

Now, with that being said, I do have a favorite and it came into play when I had my FTW vow renewal a couple of years ago. I chose the Grand Floridian for the three nights surrounding that vow renewal (I was in WDW for approximately 2-1/2 weeks during that vacation). I did that for a number of reasons:

(1) It was the resort that my family stayed in during our very first WDW vacation.
(2) It was also the resort we stayed in when we watched the Wedding Pavilion being built.
(3) Our FTW Welcome Party was being held at the Grand Floridian on the night before our vow renewal.
(4) Our evening vow renewal ceremony was being held inside the Wedding Pavilion.

And most importantly:

(5) It wouldn't be a fairy tale anything if our favorite resort -- the Grand Floridian -- were not involved.

I think the gist of my post is that you need to consult your heart and find out what resort it wants to stay in the most. When you've determined that, pick up the telephone and book it. ;)

No matter where you stay, I hope you have a wonderful honeymoon. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage.

Thank you for the welcome Janet2K. I am so impressed with this board so far-theres so much info about everything!

but hahaha I'm not getting married...yet

we're still dating and I'm just daydreaming:love:

but we are going to WDW together in Feb 2008 and I want it to be a sweet time!

We're staying at Beach Club Villas, the Contemporary, Animal Kingdom Villas and the Grand Floridian - we're crazy! :rotfl: But I couldn't pass up the deal I got by renting DVC points and the discounts through our wedding room block. Plus, I love exploring new hotels...

Stellablue, you're welcome. But let me warn you that this board can be dangerous...to your wallet! You'll learn things here that you might regret. ;)

Oh, I see how you are. You're the type who plans ahead. There's nothing wrong with that!

If you hang out on the Resorts Board, you'll learn lots of stuff about each of the WDW resorts. They really are all different and they each have something unique to offer. Of course, the more that they have to offer, the higher the price of your room will be. You know how it goes.

I have some of my WDW photos shared but not all of them. If you click on the following link, you can see what I've shared so far: click here. If you have a particular resort in mind, send me a PM and I'll try to dig up some photos for you.

My favorite Deluxe is the Grand Floridian. My favorite Moderate is Port Orleans - French Quarter. My favorite Value is Pop Century. My favorite DVC is SSR, BWV, and BCV (I keep flip-flopping). I've stayed in many of Disney's resorts numerous times. I really do love them all.

Have fun planning your upcoming WDW vacation. And your future FTW wedding or WDW honeymoon. ;)

Lurkyloo, you're not crazy. 'Cause if you are, then so am I. ;)

Here's what I did for my FTW vacation -- I dug up the following info from an old e-mail of mine that I had sent to a fellow Dis'er who was going to meet me for the first time during that vacation:

I will be at AS-Sports on 10/15 (that will be my first All Stars stay). On 10/16, I transfer over to OKW until 10/19, when I transfer to SSR for two nights. On 10/21, I am back at OKW. On 10/22, I transfer over to BWV. I'll be there until 10/26, when I transfer to the GF for three nights, then I'm back at BWV until 11/1 when my vacation ends. It's a lot of resort hopping. Initially, I was at BWV for the last week of October and the first week of November. But I decided to change my vacation around at the last minute and thus got stuck resort hopping way more than I had wanted to (with the exception of the three nights at the GF -- those nights I am happy to resort hop for).

So, Stellablue, you probably now understand why I warned you that hanging out on the Dis would be dangerous to your wallet. But just think of all the places that you'll get to see. :lmao:

Before the wedding we stayed at the CR with a MK view. It was our first time there and got hooked. Then we moved to a Garden Suite at the BWI (we had stayed there before) since our wedding was at SBP. It was perfect for both getting ready and also for the honeymoon. The best jacuzzi tub and shower (even better than the DVC ones) and such a romantic setting.

Good luck with your dreaming, someday it will become a reality.

Where in MA are you located, I'm on the south shore.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: This is too true Janet!

As Janet said you have to think of what is special to you or what theming appeals to you. We haven't stayed at all the resorts but a good chunk. We stayed at the Boardwalk for our wedding because we were having our reception there and it is our all time afvorite resort however, Grand floridian is a close second for us followed by Poly and AKL. We also love PoFQ for a romantic mod.Next year for our first anniversary Beach club is mighty trmpting because of that awesome pool!

haha guess I am no help because i love all of the Disney resorts lol!

We are staying at the Contemporary because DF loved the new decor and we wanted to stay close to he Magic kingdom and be on the monorail, good luck in deciding!

We're going to be staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for our Disneymoon (in 8 days - wow!). This will be our first Deluxe Resort stay - we are very excited!!!

I think every place, unless you're treated badly, will be awesome, regardless of its "status" - so enjoy yourself!

We stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside, requested to stay at either the Oak Manor (mansion) or Magnolia Terrace (mansions) and received Alligator Bayou. We were sooo disappointed. To top it off, the hotel kept my flowers in their frig, when I got them back my orange roses were almost black.

We have decided to stay at the fort wilderness lodge the entire stay. or wedding is 8/28/2008 going tues to tues since we now live in fl we decided that we wont stay long and eventually take another honeymoon.

D&R Love Disney:

We are in the Cambridge area. I've noticed that there are quite a few people from Mass. on these boards!

I think it depends on your tastes and what you two like. DH and I spent our honeymoon at the Wilderness Lodge, and it was so beautiful. The perfect place for us at that time.
