Hi everyone. Dh and I are thinking about going to WDW 7/19-7/22 for a short weekend trip so we can go to After Hours. Since it's a short trip and we are going in October we are looking at the cheapest for Disney resorts. I'm seeing Music at $419, Sports at $439, and French Quarter at $676. I'm tempted to not even include French Quarter because we have stayed there before and would like to try a new one (Sports or Music). I've never been at this time of year so I'm not sure what to expect at the Values. All would be Standard rooms. Any thoughts?

I voted for POFQ, but if you really want cheaper I’d pick Sports over Music due to the layout of Music since you want a standard room.

If you opt for the any of the All Stars in July, I sure hope you love being in the middle of South American youth groups because that's the experience you can expect. There's a lot of pushing, shoving, and screaming/chanting at the pool, in the Food Court, around the walk-ways, and on the busses. (Also there's no getting to the front of any lines, ex. at the Food Court, Shop, or busses because they cut the lines 10 and 20 at a time)

Would stay at POFQ for the small upcharge. So much nicer than the AS, IMO. What about trying POR for a change? and have you checked discounts at the Swan/Dolphin?

If staying AS, I would choose ASSp for a standard room.

I voted pofq. One it’s a moderate so queen size bed over full size. It’s quiet there so if you are sleeping you can. I haven’t stayed at values but the stories I’ve heard I haven’t wanted to.

I'd go for the cheapest one since it's a short trip. I'm going to assume you don't plan on spending a lot of time at the resort and I'm not a huge fan of POFQ, rare on these boards but there you go.

Swan/Dolphin may be a lot cheaper, especially if you are a SPG member. The Disney Springs hotels are also an option and probably a lot more cost effective.

We’ve stayed at riverside before and like pofq more so between the two we would pick pofq. I haven’t checked swan/dolphin discounts. They don’t get magic express do they?

We just stayed at pop so had queen beds. I completely forgot music and sports will have full beds. That definitely plays a part in our decision now.

We actually love POFQ but thought maybe we would try a new resort. We will basically have two days to hang out at our hotel: the day after we arrive will be pretty much open and the day of DAH that doesn’t start until 6ish so we will have most of that day to do things. I think dh is leaning towards pofq so we can relax a little more.

I’m not sure what SPG is. We must not be a member lol. I’m not sure if we would be able to get back to a ds hotel after dah. I’m not super informed about how their bussing works.

SPG is the Starwood hotel group guest point system. Not sure about DS buses but there is always Uber or Lyft!

Ah makes sense. I don’t think we are willing to give up magical express for this short trip. We may be flying in at 10:46 pm

No, they don't. However, I just checked your dates and you can get a prepaid rate of $648 or a AAA rate of $615 online. If interested, it is at www.swandolphin.com

The Swan is located between the BWI and the YC, is walking distance from both Epcot and DHS and is a true deluxe resort. Dining options are great at both the Swan and Dolphin A short walk to the Boardwalk is a great way to spend a little while in the evening enjoying the buskers and amenities over there. Well worth paying Uber or Lyft to/from the resort, IMO. YMMV, though.

That fact that you are planing resort days vs park days I’d definitely do pofq over value. Plus you can take the water taxi to Disney springs if you wanted to.
Yep exactly what I was thinking. We like the idea of using the quiet pools over at por too. We have a ds day planned for October so we can do Star Wars vr but I might change it to this trip so in October we can use the whole day at storm along bay.

We wouldn’t be able to get the AAA discount. I’ve actually never really wanted to stay at the swan and dolphin. They just don’t interest me. We are staying at bc in October so we will get a lot of time on the boardwalk then. Thanks for your input!

Looks like we will most likely be staying at French quarter. We are still waiting to see if plane tickets will drop this week and would like to see what weather will be like.
