Which resort for birthday trip

I am currently trying to convince my H we should surprise our daughter with a trip over her birthday this summer. He is not fully on board yet, but I am running the numbers with the current discounts being offered. I am leaning towards POR, which is the first resort we ever stayed at when she was little. We’ve been very blessed to stay at deluxe resorts for our past few trips, but looking at a moderate this time. We’re a family of 4 with a teen DD and tween DS.

POR, French Quarter and Coronado are all within similar price ranges. Which would you choose? A good pool is a must, especially considering we’re not used to going in summer. And I’m looking at the quick service dining plan, so I would like some decent QS meal options. Thanks for any input!

We have no experience with Coronado (although we’re hoping to try their tower club level at some point). We do enjoy both POFQ and POR, although I especially value the smaller footprint of the FQ. I believe the rooms were recently renovated. And Riverside is very accessible so enjoying both is pretty easy. The pool situation is better at Riverside (there are several), although I think the pool at FQ suits the resort’s smaller scale. And I’m pretty sure you can use the pools at both resorts (not entirely sure about that though). FQ has one bus stop and POR has multiple ones. I believe they share buses, but can’t confirm as we had a car the last time we were there.

With both resorts you have watercraft access to DS which to me is a major plus with regards to dining…lots of choices and something for everyone and it’s a relaxing change from the bus. Both resorts have their dedicated food courts and they work well in terms of variety. Boatwright’s is the full service restaurant at POR.

Enjoy your trip whatever you decide!

Totally forgot about the boat to DS! That is definitely a pro for either POR or FQ. Thank you!
