Which Resort First?

Hi me and the GF are headin to WDW in September and are goin to do a split stay two weeks at POP and 1 week at AKL what would you do first POP or AKL. I was thinking doing POP first as AKL would be a nice step up rather starting in AKL and then to a value. Any thoughts what would you do first? Thanks.

I'd do pop first also. Finish off your vacation at the deluxe. Three Weeks! How Wonderful! Have a great time.

Hi: Wow three weeks at wdw. That is how we do a split stay, first the cheaper resort then the deluxe resort to hang out. Pop sounds like a fun resort, never stayed there yet but the animal kingdom is a favorite of ours, especially the savannah rooms. We can sit for hours on the balcony watching the animals.

Try to watch around 7 a.m., that is when the animal feeders come in and place the giraffe food high, ground feeder low. When we were there the giraffes went right over to the pickups and were trying to eat the food out of the back and the animal keepers were petting and hugging them.

Definately POP 1st.....

It will be dissapointing IMO to leave AKL and go to POP....

POP 1st....you will enjoy....then be blown away by AKL.

Pop first, then AKL second. It will be nice to upgrade resorts. If you do it in reverse, you'll be disappointed.

I would probably stay at POP 1st.
I would think it would be hard to go from staying in a Deluxe
to a Value but going from a Value to a Deluxe--now that
would be a nice finish to a long vacation.

Ye we were there for two weeks last year and thought we didnt have quite enough time hehe as we like to go to all the other parks aswell as Disney. We stayed offsite last year so really lookin forward to onstie this year We cant quite afford the savannha rooms :-( ah well maybe some day ha. Can we still watch the animals early morning from somewhere else in the hotel? Thanks

There are plenty of great places around the Lodge to view the animals.

We've stayed at both resorts. I'd vote for POP first and finish up with AKL. Both are nice resorts however there are differences between the values and the deluxes. Value has two full size beds whereas the deluxes have two queen size beds. Values dobn't have a fridge whereas the deluxes do. Values have once a one sink vanity whereas the deluxes have two. Value has a large food court and no table services restaurants whereas Deluxes have one or more table services restaurants and a small food court. Etc.

Yes, AKL as lots of viewing points around the resort to view the animals. If you haven't tried Boma we always enjoyed Boma for breakfast in the morning. It's a great way to start the day.

I agree that going to POP first is the way to go. It also makes sense because after 2 weeks running around the more relaxed atmosphere of AKL would be restful (as well as exotic ) Enjoy I'm really green (get it Ireland ..OK bad joke) with envy. Have a fabulous trip.

By all means - POP first and then AKL......it would be too depressing to go from a Deluxe resort to a moderate!! Have a WONDERFUL TIME!! I would LOVE to go for 3 weeks!!!

I will add my vote to the POP first strategy. I always like to leave the best for last.

I do have to agree with doing Pop first and AKL last. Also, I would add a visit to Jiko's on my last night. That way you could have a leisurely meal, then pack up.
