Which resort didnt live up to your expections..

Well, this is a weird answer, I suppose, but I have two.

Pop Century: I went in there expecting more of the same in the likes of the All Stars, except I expected it to be BETTER (cause it was newer, etc.). I came away wishing I'd stayed at the All Stars. The atmosphere at Pop was too crazy. It was too loud and garish. I like All Star Music, and for some reason, it seems so much quieter by comparison than Pop. I hated everything about the Pop. I just can't understand how people like it.

You could not have said this better!! I am so haappy to see people stating what this place is really like. I feel like you get slammed sometimes for being truthful and trying to warn others. I think half the park stays here and it just makes it way too crazy. The line situation here was ridiculous for the amount of people staying. Will not be visiting POP again.:guilty:

For me it was Pop Century. I too went in with incredibly low standards, it was the first (and only) value resort that I had or ever will stay in. I was raised on the Deluxe resorts, maybe that has something to do with my opinion. I HATED it. At 7 in the morning there was a guy outside our room with a leaf blower. Also we were very close to the elevators and you could hear it DING every time it came to our floor. It was unbearable, we ended up transferring to Coronado Springs, which we liked very much. I've stayed at almost every single other Disney resort and loved them all (granted I was 6 years old when I stayed at the Poly, but still...) but the Pop was horrid. I will never NEVER stay there again, no matter how cheap it is. The only good thing about the Pop being so noisy was that when we transfered to Coronado Springs...somehow we ended up with 6 extra dining credits on our account...so it was heellllloooooo premium 2 dining credit dinners!

BWI. The room was VERY rundown and the lobby just wasn't that impressive for the money we spent. WL was a HUGE improvement.

CBR...we really didn't like it. This resort seemed, far too, bland. I loved Pop Century, a lot more.

For me, POR was a let-down. I stayed there once before, and got a room in the very back of mansion Parterre Place. I wasn't too thrilled with the location, as it was isolating and near nothing. The second time I was going to stay at POR, I was hoping (and requested) a different area of the resort. Imagine my surprise at check-in when I get almost the exact same lonely room in the same back corner of Parterre Place. I wanted something different, the CM said nope, sorry. What a disappointment. There are about 2000 rooms at POR, and I get stuck again in almost the same room near nothing twice. :sad2: And the buses were beyond awful. Not staying there again.

My other disappointment was WL. I dreamed of staying there, relaxing on my balcony. I stayed there twice, and both times was assigned a very similar room that I wasn't thrilled with - a ground floor room with a king bed & handicapped-assessible. But the second time at WL, when I realized it was happening again, I begged for a better room with a balcony and thankfully got it. But so very disappointing to have to fight tooth and nail to get something as simple as a balcony. :confused3 Just left a bad taste in my mouth.

So POR and WL are off my lists now. I keep getting pretty much the same room at those places - I like some variety sometimes!

Pop, and the sad thing is that I went in with low expectations -- knew it would be a budget experience, and I was perfectly fine with that. Never expected that I would get so little sleep.

zzzzzz-WAP: our neighbors are shutting the dresser drawers
Wack, clack, clack: our neighbors just pulled some clothes off their hangers and that would be the hanger slapping the wall
sssssBOOOOOOM, sssssssssssBOOOOM: this would be everyone in a 5 room radius walking out of the room and instead of pulling the door to, letting the automatic closer shut it. And didn't all those people around us just seem to go in and out of their rooms about every 5 minutes. BOOm, thud, thud, shriek, BOOM, thud thud. *sigh*
KABLURRRBBBLE: someone just used the toilet
zzzzditditditzzzzditditdit: another person walking by with their rolling luggage and/or the maids with their carts. Forget afternoon naps.
WEEE-WEEEE-WEEEE: neighbors alarm clock going on
grrrbbble, mrrrble, weee-oohhhh-weee-oooh: neighbors watching a cop show on tv

Lots of people have complained about all the noise at Pop. We loved it and were right in front of the Hippy Dippy pool which contained lots of excited children at night. I guess we were so tired from the parks that we dropped straight asleep!

we've stayed at most of the moderates, deluxes, FWH, & DVC:
POR ~ dirty room (the first was disgusting: mold, dirty toilet, food on bedding, etc; the 2nd had food & hair clips & bands on carpet & mold), dreary
BC/BCV ~ no worthwhile views from the villas ("EPCOT view" is a street, very tall trees, & extremelly few fireworks), in multiple visits we found the pools & lobby were the most noisy & crowded of any resort we've ever tried, even the halls were extremelly noisy (screaming, loud talking, screaming, screaming:headache: ) almost non-stop from about 6AM until 11PM (impossible to sleep late, take an afternoon nap, or go to bed early).

those are the only truly disappointing ones we've had, thank goodness:thumbsup2

POFQ for us was the biggest disappointment. I hoped for this beautifully styled, relaxed low key resort, instead it was a bleeding zoo, with the rudest staff I have ever encountered, the food court bizarrely planned, and you took your life in your hands going in there to get coffee for 2, and try and leave without it being spilt on you or the kids who were allowed to run wildly round the food court. Bus service was a bind as well, we moved to the all stars for the remainder of our 3 week stay and loved it.

We hated CBR and could not wait to leave. Housekeeping was extremely poor and the staff rude. The room decor was boring and needed refurbishment. We also did not like the food court. The only food court we hated worse than at CBR was the Pepper Market at CS.

Fortunately, NONE of the resorts we've stayed at didn't live up to our expectations, including Caribbean Beach, Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Port Orleans Riverside. Loved them all :thumbsup2

We've done a few resorts, 40x on property and the worst stay was Pop, never again but we only had to do 3 nights there because of hurricane Wilma. They have the smallest room ,worse beds we've seen, nosiest plumbing and just about everything else other posters have complained about. Second on our list was AKL, again a 3 night stay, couldn't get all the nights we were staying at the Poly but the AKL room was the longest walk we ever had at any resort. We had Savannah view, paying extra for very few animals only at feeding time then looking out the slider at a trashed pasture is not the Disney view we wanted, bus waits were terrible, too many people very few buses and it wasn't peak season either. Now onto the others, we like the Poly but not at the price they are getting now, too much money for something I can get cheaper by staying at WL. Same said about the CR and GF. It has finally come down to the last 5 or more trips, the best of all the worlds, bang for the buck and location to favorite park and access to most areas, Wilderness Lodge. Take the AP or AAA discount and at 180-200 bucks a night, a wonderful resort, location via boat to MK and same for monorail access, boat to CR to gain it and transfer to EPCOT monorail, on the lakes for EWP and it has the deluxe features without the big price tag. Great food court, sit down restaurants, themed pool with slide, all under one roof and inside corridors. thats our resort for years to come no questions asked.

Well for us it was the BC, The Cm were very rude. (like they were doing us a favor) and we had this very tiny rm with the worst neighbors. We could hear EVERYTHING. We have stayed at the ASMU and it was not as loud there.

I just came back from the Pop. I do like the resort but this last time I was not to happy. The price of the room with a AAA discount was 120.00. This was because it was in Peak season. The room faced the back of the 50's. Our view was the parking lot. That was fine because we were only there overnight. I will never attempt to do Disney in a day. The problem with the room was the air conditioner broke and the toilet would not flush. This was discovered at 11:00 at night. They could do nothing until the morning. I will say they did refund half of the room for me. The room should have been 60.00 to begin with. I would like to add the food court is way to busy! By the time I sat down to eat my food was ice cold. I think they need to have every line open in the morning. I like the Pop for the reason I can go every year but the rooms are really not that great. Don't start me on the beds. I will just say too small and I think the mattress is foam because comfort is not what I'm feeling. The sound of showers and toilets in the morning hours was bad also. The walls must be made of paper.

We've stayed at all the deluxe and mods and we are DVC members at BWV.

The only hotels at WDW that didn't disappoint were Coronado Springs, Swan, and Dolphin, and believe it or not I'm not particular.

Disappointment was due mostly to indifferent CMs, lots of money for mediocre rooms, and noise.

I guess we were expecting to much but we really did not like POP. It was to croweded and the cm didn't give you the time of day. They weren't rude . They were tired and looked as if they did 12 hour shifts. We will never go there again.:surfweb:

I could've written your post word for word! I am always surprised when someone actually LIKES Coronado! :rotfl:

Well, this is a weird answer, I suppose, but I have two.

Pop Century: I went in there expecting more of the same in the likes of the All Stars, except I expected it to be BETTER (cause it was newer, etc.). I came away wishing I'd stayed at the All Stars. The atmosphere at Pop was too crazy. It was too loud and garish. I like All Star Music, and for some reason, it seems so much quieter by comparison than Pop. I hated everything about the Pop. I just can't understand how people like it.

POR: I used to stay here when I was a young preteen/teenager and my family would go down. Back then, it was Dixie Landings. I stayed at POR in 2003 with my husband. We happened to get a great SOG overflow rate there ($69/night...couldn't pass that up) and I was excited to return to the place I loved as a kid. I had it all built up in my head and so I was talking it up to my husband for weeks. Well, when we got there, we were placed in Building 34 in AB...FAR from everything. The place seemed so worn down, old, and just in need of freshening up. I was so disappointed by how small the main pool seemed (when you're younger, things seem so much more grand). ;) The food court was completely different than it used to be, and it just felt strange to be there, like deja vu sort of. It was like I recognized it, but I felt like I'd never been there before. It was sort of sad that it didn't live up to the way I had it in my head. I sort of wished I hadn't returned there, because now those memories seem skewed...

We stayed in building 34 in October (Rooms 3401 and 3402)....I totally agree that it was a walk to everything, but the surroundings were so beautiful, they made up for the walk! :goodvibes

The resort is too big. It takes forever to get anywhere with Disney buses because there are 7 bus stops within the resort! It also needs some updating. I visited a cousin who was staying there in 6/04. The decor was the same as I remembered from my stay in 6/89!

Ditto to all of this.:sad1:

Oh great we're heading there in July. We'll suck it up I guess. It was that or the Fort Wilderness cabins - so we went inn.

For us it would be a toss up but I'll go with
CSR to us didn't do it. The room was small and dark and depressing. The staff was rude to others in Spanish(we understood what they were saying) and just gave us a bad feel. But I am always tempted to try again as this was several years ago and I have heard much better things about it.
