Which queues are not to be missed?

Hi. This will be our first trip to US/IOA. Another poster mentioned something about not using their FOTL access on a certain ride in order to be able to see the entire queue. We are staying onsite so will have FOTL, but are there certain rides we should make sure to try through the regular queue first?

TIA!

If you are a fan of the comics, Spiderman--there are a ton of inside jokes as you walk through "The Daily Bugle." Actually, the videos set up the back story quite nicely, which makes the ride even more enjoyable.

I agree with Dr. Doom as well: three different cartoons, each in a different style of animation, all entertaining.

Spiderman, Dueling Dragons, MIB, The Mummy all have very detailed queues

definitely spiderman and dr. doom!!! those are byfar the best queues in the parks. dueling dragons, hulk, and dudley do right are all neat looking because they go with the theme but they can get boring. mummy, mib, bttf, and e.t. are also neat. so i guess that means that u should pretty much go through all the queues!!

So the FOTL queues are not the same as the stand-by queues? What, does the FOTL go upstream through the chicken exits or what?

the EP queues are varied. some follow the standby lines, some take shortcuts through the queue. they're themed to match the attraction, but for the most part, you're not going to get the whole story of the attraction.

DD's EP line starts outside of the castle, so you miss 80% of the queue and the story. some people don't care, they just want to ride a coaster. but they miss so much. same thing with MIB, you miss the whole story if you don't take 'the universe and you' tour and the elevator ride.

if people zip from EP line to EP line they're missing some great stuff. I wonder if they're the same people that claim Universal has no theming, or 'magic'.

Sorry, but I would call the Dueling Dragons queue ANYTHING but boring...there's tons of stuff in the queue to look at, merlin's magic book, a beast behind a large chained door, frozen knights and horses hanging above you, swords and shields stuck in the walls, skeletons everywhere.

IMO, the best queues are MIB and Mummy at USF; Spiderman and Dueling Dragons at IOA.

If you use FOTL, you'll see some of the MIB queue (but not the pre-show The Universe and You) and none of the good parts of Mummy. If you don't go through the Mummy queue and see at least part of the film, you won't necessarily understand all the MedJai stuff. You certainly can still enjoy the ride without this, but it'll be a missing piece of the puzzle. As already mentioned, you'll miss most of the queue at DD with FOTL. Spiderman, on the other hand, has a separate and different queue line for FOTL, which is also worth seeing.

Great thread, thanks. I'd read elsewhere that you missed some of the theming if you used the FOTL queues, but wasn't sure for which attractions that would be the most critical. It's also great to know that there's different stuff to see in the FOTL queue for Spiderman. I might have missed that.

How about the single rider queues for the rides that have them? Do any/all of them also bypass part of the main queue's theming?

Thank you all so much for your suggestions!!! I think what I'll do is print out this thread and make a list that we can bring with us (although by the looks of it, a list of queues we could skip would be shorter! :rotfl: )

You guys rock!

None of the SRL take you through the themed queues.

Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to go through the standby lines; save the FOTL for repeat rides. We have only been on Spiderman- through the standby queue-of all the rides mentioned. Spent an entire morning in Jurassic Park. How is the queue for their raft ride? We skipped all water rides during our trip as it was a balmy 56 degrees ;) .

We were in line for 10 minutes when we went on last week wed/thur around 11-11.30. If we came to a Q to long, we just saved it for another day and went for something else.
Single rider for the mummy as about 2 minutes, no walkthrough at all, a couple of dark twists and onto the ride. Wish i would have had time to do the whole build up, but the ride on it's own is WILD ! My first coaster !

The JPRA queue is nothing to speak of. It's all outdoors but covered. Standard snake lines with a short, unimportant to the story, film on the video monitors. I don't think I've ever waited more than 10 minutes at JPRA.
