What would you say is the best pool for teens and tweens?

I am asking this question for a friend of mine. We've stayed value the last couple of trips, so I wasn't really sure. I purposely left off Stormalong Bay because I have stayed there (albeit years ago) and know how great it is and I wanted to provide them with some other options as well. Feel free to comment on SAB if you want though as things could have changed since I've been there.

I voted CSR. It has a nice big open pool and a great slide. CSR always felt like an older resort to me, not for little kiddies. Can't really explain why though.:confused3

My vote is for CBR. Big pool, lots of areas for laying out, and even DH (who is 35) loves the slide.

I really like the new AKV pool, the slide is long and I think tweens would enjoy it. The smaller ones would like the water play area.

If you have teens/tweens - our kids a slightly older, 17 & 19....and you do the pool every day, my voted would be for SAB at YC/BC or Grotto pool at the Swan/Dolphin.

But we have a pool at home and even when we spend 10 days at WDW, we only use the pool at the resort about 3 times. ;)

We like a clean pool, just for a quick dip while at WDW.

WL is a lovely resort, we love it there, but the pool always looked dirty.

The pool at AK, POLY and GF looked very nice when we ate a meal at the resorts.

CR has a very nice clean pool and a normal standard looping water slide.

CSR, even though a moderate, has a very large clean pool and a 123' water slide with loops and a tiger squirting water at you as you decend into the pool.

POFQ is a decent size, larger than the WL pool, and is clean. The slide is a dragon, best for little ones - but the pool is good enough to get wet and even a quick swim at 9 am before spending a night in a park.
Yes - we do more late entry hours, than early morning hours at the parks.
Try prying a 19 year old out of bed at 5 am :rotfl:

I would see if a pool use is high on your list, before you decide on a resort.

My daughter is 17. She likes the CSR pool and the BW pool. She said both the Poly's volcano pool and SAB are too crowded and there are too many little ones.

I voted for Grand Floridian.

Grand Floridian has two pools. The garden pool is huge but not very crowded, and it has a hot tub. It's in a beautiful setting in the central courtyard, and there's plenty of room to swim or tan. The feature pool is located by the beach, and it's far less crowded than Poly's similar volcano pool. Plus, the teens can relax on the very long stretch of beach.

Poly's pool area is cool, but there is no hot tub. Also, the volcano pool is almost always super crowded and full of little kids. Like GF, there is a nice long beach to relax on. One special feature of the volcano pool is the view of the castle from the pool area.

I definitely think Stormalong Bay is the best pool area, by far. But if you want to try something new, I would say GF first, then Poly.

Our favorite resort is OKW. I know that it is not on your list. My kids though wil make time to go to the main pool almost every day, weather permitting and they still like the slide. DS24 he has a few disABILITIES so age does not aply here. DS22, reverts to being a kid when in Disney. DD16 if there is a pool with a decent slide she is all over it. DSs also like the fact that there is a basketball court there and that is is bigger then the ones at most of the others.

Didn't even think of OKW!:upsidedow

The Luna Park pool at the Boardwalk has a great theme and I am one of those people who likes the clown slide.

We have 2 teens and their favorite is the volcano pool at the Poly :goodvibes.

Thanks for the opinions everyone!:goodvibes Our pool use is always pretty high, because our big trips are usually in August. Our friends have a son on the spectrum who LOVES the water, so I know that they will make good use of the pool, for sure. I will be sure to pass all this info. along to them to help them out. (And I am filing it away for myself as I am determined to get back to WDW by 2012 at the latest. :thumbsup2)

And as far as the Boardwalk clown goes, while I haven't been down the slide, I did stay at the Inn back in my pre-family days, not too long after it opened. I thought the pool area looked lovely and not creepy. :)

Do you know if you can use the Kidani pool if you are staying in a regular room in Jambo house? Is it easy to get from one place to the other?

Yes you can. We did this last summer. The easiest way is to take one of the buses going to the parks... its a 2-3 minute ride and was easy... The kids really enjoyed the pool at Kidani... but we liked the room/lobby/activities at Jambo house best... so it was fun to br able to visit both.

Yes, you can use both pools. There is a walkway between the resorts or you can choose to take the bus as the PP said:thumbsup2

I vote other..... SAB is the best pool on property. We've never found it too busy to enjoy and the quiet pools are there is an issue.

Only a few more days and the YC / SAB here we come :cloud9:
