Plan C: I'm the dork who wears it on a lanyard most of the time when I'm working or out and about. I do this because I'm hard of hearing, and masking made it impossible to read lips, so I came to depend on using my phone's voice-to-text app. Also, it keeps my hands free, and by now it's become a habit. If I'm doing something that involves a lot of bending (or riding a roller-coaster!), then I drop it down my shirt temporarily.

And yes, it looks dorky, but it's amazingly handy. (FWIW, I don't use the lanyard while riding a bike; I put it in a rubber-edged handlebar mount.)

FWIW, before I used the lanyard, I used to use a portable cloth pocket to hold my phone at work, and I still use one sometimes, as it's quite discreet. I made it out of nice quality flannel so that it would be slip-resistant against the fabric of my clothes. They are made reversible in two colors to match most of what I wear to work; a bit over a foot long, and there is a pocket on each end. (Imagine it in the shape of a flat-folded "S", one color on each side.) You can tuck it into the waistband of pants or a skirt, and the length of the part hanging inside the waistband will hold it in place, so you can put the phone in the pocket that is on the outside. Works very nicely and fully washable, and you can move it to the back of your waistband if necessary.

yet men can fit their keys, phone, handful of change and a can of beer in one of their front pockets. I'm a woman and I usually keep it in my back pocket out of necessity,

The can of beer? ;)

how many of us have almost lost our phones in the toilet because we pulled our pants down with a phone in our back pocket?

I always have to remember to take a step forward from the toilet before carefully lowering my pants, so that if the phone falls out, it at least, ends up on the floor.

Yeah, like at a party? then they can carry a fully loaded plate and their drink back to their seat at the same time. Lol, is that just a redneck thing? It's a thing I have quietly admired for a while now 🤣

Female. Usually in my purse when I leave the house. If I’m not carrying a purse (for certain outdoor activities), then in my jacket pocket. If no jacket, then in my back pants pocket, right side.

At home, I don’t have it on me all the time. I’ll put it down on a nearby surface and sometimes misplace it. LOL, good thing we still have a landline, so I can call it to find it.

If I’m not wearing a jacket with inner pockets, I carry my phone as a wristlet. My phone case has a strap that is like a bracelet. It also has a tiny wallet for a few credit cards/DL, so I forego a purse when traveling light.

I almost always have the case in my left hand and rarely let it dangle.

women put phones in our back pockets because the fashion industry won't give us normal pockets. Pockets are for putting things in and the front pockets on most women's pants you can't even fit your whole hand in it, let alone keys or a cell phone, yet men can fit their keys, phone, handful of change and a can of beer in one of their front pockets. I'm a woman and I usually keep it in my back pocket out of necessity, but it's annoying when you have to remove it every time you want to sit, or before you go to the ladies room (how many of us have almost lost our phones in the toilet because we pulled our pants down with a phone in our back pocket?). Screen faces my butt because that's squishy enough to protect it if I accidentally sit on it.
I strongly suspect that the purse industry is in cahoots with fashion designers, paying them off or giving them a share of purse profits.

I buy purses specifically to fit my phone.

If I do not have a purse and my hands need to be free I will admit it nearly always goes in my bra so this is why you always need an other.

I would never put it in my back pocket- wouldn't put anything important in a back pocket- to easy to get pick pocketed

She did say we can, not that we do. For the record, a current 16.9 ounce bottle of Pepsi, I can put in the front pocket of all my pants and it doesn't hang out. It's completely in my pocket, with my keys and pocket knife sitting in the bottom of my pocket taking up some space.

Female - in my purse, wristlet, or if I'm wearing a coat/jacket/vest in the right side pocket. I never put my phone in pants pockets.

That's what I think every time I see people with their phones half hanging out of their back pocket.

It's not when I'm out in public. But when I'm at someone's house or at work and don't have a jacket or purse on me I'll stick it in my back pocket as it's the only place it will fit if I need my hands free.
