We'll be there next week! Our boys are (almost) 3 and 5. We want to do one nicer dinner.

We'd like to have an alcoholic drink and have a place that would be fun for the kids so mom and dad can relax and not say "sit in your seat. We'll be finished in a few minutes" the whole time.

What do you recommend?

I was thinking of:

Coral Reef at Epcot

Biergarten (Germany) except food doesn't sound great

La Cellier (Canada) too boring for kids? Sounds fabulous for adults

50's Prime Time Cafe

Sci-Fi Dine in (Boys love cars)

RainForest Cafe at AK (Is this open at night eventhough AK closes at 5:00?)

50's Prime Time! It's a no-brainer. You can have your alcoholic drink and the place is lively enough that the kids can wiggle in their seats a bit and nobody is going to mind. You can really relax here, and best of all - the food is EXCELLENT. Best food in the World if you ask me. Your kids will love the place - I guarantee it.:D

This may sound weird but all my neices's and nephew's love eating at JAPAN @ Teppanyaki Dining Room ages 3-19 young children can get bored waiting for their food...at Teppanyaki the chef's come right to your table to prepare the food so they are entertained, and the chef's alway include the children with funny antics. The childrens menu are very reasonable and you will be able to have a very nice up-scale dinner.

Mine are just turned four and five, and we got back about three weeks ago.

Biergarten - Good food, but the buffet is too much of a hassle with kids.

Spoodles - Food wasn't that great - but a lot of people love it here. But the restaurant is big and fun and noisy. The kids didn't have a problem, and it being a "tapas" restaurant, the food comes quickly.

Marrakesh - not our most successful meal with the kids. Too far from the belly dancer. We've eaten here in the past with them, but this time it didn't work well. We had a very slow server - which is the kiss of death with kids this age.

Narcoosees - this is expensive, but the food is very good and it definately qualifies as a nicer meal. The restaurant is very noisy and kids aren't as disturbing here as they are at a place like Artist's Point.

Teppenyaki - the kids really enjoyed watching the chef - but the grill is hot. They will put your kids down at the end (two seats next to one another) where the grill is cooler - but that means its more difficult for a parent to run interferance.

Le Cellier - we thought this was fantastic. It being a park restaurant the expectation for well behaved children isn't what it is over at Shula's or the Yachtsman. The kids really enjoyed the chocolate moose for dessert. Bread sticks come out fast - and all of our food was served promptly

Boma - another buffet.

One of the things I've discovered is that my kids get up and going in the morning, then don't nap - we go back to the room, but the pool beckons. So we end up swimming instead of sleeping. And then get out of the pool to go to dinner. The poor little things are so tired that they sit very well for dinner - and in fact do worse when they are being overstimulated at dinner than if we eat somewhere a little quieter. Of course, your kids may be very different than mine.

We have eaten dinner at the Kona Cafe with our kids 3 years in a row(the last time in August at ages 3 1/2 & 6 1/2) and they really enjoy it. There isnt anything really special for kids as in entertainment, but they enjoy sitting by the railing being close to the lobby. Plus with the lobby noise, its not the type of place they have to be silent at all times. They are picky eaters and really enjoy the food there. The hot dogs are huge and my youngest who eats nothing loves the sticky rice.
They do make a good drink and the prices there are very reasonable. We have always found the service, atmosphere, and food to be wonderful.

*Biergarten is definitely fun for the kids(with the show and music)! We didn't find it to be a hassle because of the buffet. It just gave the kids a nice choice of foods.
*PrimeTime Cafe is always a must with our family! We love the interaction with the waiters and the food is homecooked style.
*Coral Reef is a really nice meal! The restaurant has a unique atmosphere that keeps the kids mezmerized throughout the meal(especially if you get a tank side table).
*Whispering Canyon(at WL)- alot of fun and shananigans! The atmosphere is relaxed and fun(the kids get to ride stick ponies in a race).
*LeCellier is one of favorites. The food is fabulous, but the atmosphere is more reserved than the others mentioned!
*Sci Fi- food is mediocre, but makes up for it with the theming. I wouldn't call it a nice meal out!

There is a Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney that is open in the evening. There were plenty of kids in this place. Tempt them with if they are good then after dinner they play at LegoLand. The "adult beverages" were quite tasty. I had an orange flavored margarita that I really enjoyed. They have a huge appetizer plate that two us shared are our entire meal!
