We will be at DW for 9 days in mid October - from Sunday, October 5th to Monday, October 13th. We will be buying 7 day park hopper passes and staying off property. Which parks should we avoid on the first Sunday of our visit and the last Saturday and Sunday of our visit. Thanks for any assistance you can give.

Because you are going off season, the crowd situation is not going to be as big of a factor. Traditionally Sat, Fri, and Mon are the heaviest days at MK, however, (as off-season travellers ourselves) we have found that it doesn't make that much difference off-season. Since you have 7 days, this gives you 2 days to enjoy your hotel, rest and maybe do some other things like water parks or outlet shopping. I would take those days *as needed*

Try not to overplan. You may find that you get down there and want to add 2 more days to your PH or you may find that 7 full days is too many. You may (like we did) find that AK is so wonderful that you want to spend 3 days there. Or you may get so Disneyed out (is that possible?) that you have to take 2 days in the middle to center yourself and get cheerful music out of your head.

If this is your first time down, be open to what you are going to do. I would suggest doing MK the first day (because it isn't really Disney until you walk down Mainstreet IMNSHO) and then just pick a park and go. With a PH if you find that you aren't enjoying that park right then or need to switch for the kids' sakes you have that option.

Good luck and HAVE FUN (And yes that is an order) DON"T STRESS (another order).

I think a general rule of thumb is stay away from MK on Sat - and maybe especially on Sat of a three day weekend. What time do you arrive on Sunday? You may want to watch for the hours and pick a park that's open late OR if you can actually control yourself (we never can! LOL!) Get settled in and don't do a park at all. Maybe plan to have dinner at Chef Mickey's, you could go over early, ride the monorail around the MK resorts or also do the Epcot monorail - just over and back) and have dinner and then maybe watch the MK fireworks the Polynesian beach.

I have heard that Epcot is a good park to do on weekends in the fall. the weekdays can be very crowded in the fall because of school field trips.

Supposedly the least crowded days for MK in the fall are Wednesday and Friday, best day for MGM is Thursday and AK is Monday. Hope this helps.

If you want to see the Animators at work at the MGM studios, go during the week. We went on a Sunday one year and were very disappointed to see WHERE the animators work but not actually working.
