We aren't going until February, so we are not planning on visiting any of the water parks this time, but I know some of the rides will get you wet at the parks...

So my question is, which park should I wear flip flops to and which park should I wear tennis shoes to, because I can't stand walking around in SOGGY tennis shoes, then my feet get be all prunned up, it makes me crazy!!!:crazy2:

Like does anything just soak you to the bone??

Thanks,
Ashlee

There are no rides in either Epcot or DHS where you will get wet at all.

At MK the only ride is Splash Mountain, and it is basically not more than a cup of water on a person; during the colder times there is almost no chance of getting wet.

At AK Kali River Rapids you will get soaked, otherwise there is nothing where you will get wet.

I can only think of two rides that will get you wet enough to notice.
You may get wet on Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom. You may get soaked. It just depends, but it's rare that anyone gets soaked. I only ride this one if the sun is out and I know I'll dry off quickly, or if it's the last thing of the day and I'm heading back to the resort.
You will get wet on Kali River Rapids at Animal Kingdom. You may get absolutely soaked to the skin. I don't usually ride this in the winter months for that reason.

I got soaked on Splash Mountain - though DH does insist on sitting in the front row. My shorts were all wet. Agree Kahli will definately get you wet.

Depending on the weather in February I personally would not ride either of them unless I had left a change of clothes and shoes in a locker at the front gate to put on after riding. However - we did not ride Slash Mountain in October as it was late in the day and while still warm it would take a while to dry out and we did not want to be damp for dinner.:confused3

They do turn the "Splash" down on Slash Mountain when it is cold, so you won't get too wet.

I went on the river rapid ride at ANimal Kingdom one day and ended up eating dinner with very wet jeans. It was worth it!

We always go in Dec and alway do Splash. I find if you sit in the back you will not get as wet. We usually wear poncho's unless it is the picture we are going to buy.

Kali you will get wet no doubt. We did it three times and the last time was the worst. But we always ensure that we bring extra clothes/shoes to change into when doing this ride.

Poncho sounds like a good idea :) I don't fancy walking around with wet clothes/shoes either

I too am going to AK in Feb 2011 and I really want to do Kali River ride. I plan to bring a poncho. But my question is this.. what about a large plastic garbage bag to put my feet and legs in - under the poncho. I don't care how I look - I just don't want to get wet! Any thoughts?? Thanks

When I went I wore a pncho and put plastic bags (the ones the newspaper is delivered in) over my feet, closed by rubber bands. Also, didn't keep my feet on the "floor," but kept them elevated. Went 3 times in a row, and came out almost without a drop on me.

At MK you will get wet on Splash Mountain and maybe a little on Pirates of the Carribean. In Epcot the ride in Norway could get you a little wet but not much. In Universal Studios you won't get wet anywhere. Animal Kingdom you do get wet also.

When we when on Kali River Rapids, we brought flip flops to change into for this ride and put our other shoes in plastic bags inside the backpack (I also wore a poncho! I'm a mom, I'm entitled even though the kids laughed at me!) and kept our feet off the bottom of the ride.

I'm a mom too.. and a grandma. I'll be wearing pants/jeans and sneakers.. I can't wear flip-flops. So any suggestions anyone can make so that I can go on the ride and not have to bring a complete change of dry clothes is appreciated. I don't mind getting a little wet - just not drenched! I've never been on a WDW water ride because we always go in January or Febuary because it's cold in Michigan and we NEED some sunshine! hehe:cool2:

There is a possibility you will get wet @ DHS on the Backlot Tour. If you have a seat near the middle of the tram on the left side I would recommend you put your camera in a safe place. You won't get soaked, more like sprayed.

As above, wear a poncho. Pull the hood over your head, tight! Put plastic bags on your feet, seal them with rubberbands, and don't keep your feet on the floor. I went around 3 times in both WDW and Disneyland, and kept dry.

Thanks Carlbarry, I'm gonna start collecting newspaper plastic bags! Do you use the cheap Dollar store ponchos?

Yes, I did use the dollar store ponchos. They're very small to carry around before you open them, and not too expensive to dispose of when you're done. But they're pretty fragile and tear or come apart easily (even though my first one lasted through Kali River, torrential rain at Sea World, and torrential rain in St. Thomas. Really got my dollars worth LOL). However, in a close-out store here I've seen better quality Coleman ponchos for only $3, so I think I'll try them this time, even thought they're much bulkier to carry.
2 other tips:
1. Put a couple of bags on each foot, in case one leaks
2. Be aware that if you have a camera bag or such, that must be wrapped up, too, as the container in the center of the raft meant to hold your things gets SOAKED!

Good to know! I'll be sure and have my backpack wrapped up too! Thanks again.

Feb... is a rainy time of season so bring them anyway!... the flip flops that is
