Which park would you recommend if you only had one day at WDW?

Thinking about visiting for one day in October and I can't decide on which park. We have never been to WDW before, but have been to Disneyland several times.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Epcot is distinctly different from anything at DL (Except for Soarin', lol). The world showcase is really something to behold!

While EPCOT is my favorite. I think you should always begin your WDW trip @ MK.

Only one day? What a nightmare! :rotfl:

I would do Magic Kingdom because it IS Disney to me. Would you have park hoppers? I might be really tempted to split the day between MK and another park, even if it was just to see the parks without doing a lot of rides.

As much as I love Epcot, we always have to go to Magic Kingdom when we arrive. There's a reason it is called Magic!

If you are FORCED to only do one day in the World, would you be able to get a park hopper pass? It would be such a shame to miss out on so much. I would go to the Kingdom hands down and then hop on over to EPCOT for a nice evening stroll.
My heart goes out to you and your dilemma.

Epcot is perfect for something different than Disneyland. Some of the WDW versions are let downs of favourites, such as Space Mountain. But I'm sure you'd have a wonderful time at either!

For your first trip and only one day - definitely Magic Kingdom!

Epcot is not a park for everyone and while you might love it, it would be a shame if you didn't and felt you wasted the day. It's definitely different from Disneyland, but I would say Magic Kingdom, absolutely for one day.

Normally, I'd recommend Magic Kingdom for a first-time WDW visit. But if you've already been to Disneyland several times, I would definitely recommend a different park (since MK and DL have lots of similarities).

I'd definitely recommend either Epcot or Animal Kingdom. Most folks would say "Epcot," but for me, AK is my second-favorite park (next to Magic Kingdom). But I know some folks aren't wild about AK -- Epcot is probably a safer bet.

Magic Kingdom is our park of choice. My DD 12 says walking down main street makes her feel tingly inside :lovestruc But just as others have suggested, a hopper may be in order but I hope that Fantasyland will be open and you will have lots of new things to see and do that aren't available at DL. If you do hop, my kids love DHS. I lean towards Epcot but DHS is a blast. Just really depends on what you are looking to accomplish.

MK for a family with younger kids, Epcot or a park-hopping MK/Epcot combo for families with no kids or teens.

Magic Kingdom. It IS Disney. You can't go to, or even think about Disney World without picturing Cinderella's Castle!!!

It would have to be the Magic Kingdom.

Our first trip w/ kids was a 1 day trip to the Magic Kingdom and it was perfect. No we couldn't do everything, and we knew that when we went.

I agree with many of the posts provided. Certainly, I would normally suggest MK (seems more magical and I prefer Wishes fireworks to Illuminations), but due to the fact that you have done Disneyland, I think EPCOT provides a different experience. The Food and Wine Festival may be open. It is nice to walk around.

However, think about what type of activities you enjoy most. MK has more rides and though some are similar to CA, they are not all exact duplicates. You may enjoy making the comparisons of what is in Disneyland vs MK. Check what will be down for renovations. Do your homework.

If your limit is due to time and not money, then the suggestion of a parkhopper is good because the monorail goes from EPCOT to MK and is a nice ride in itself. Each ticket would cost about $35-40 more than a one day/one park pass.
