Which Park Would you Skip?

My daughters' first trip to Disney World happened last November. The youngest, who was 18 months at the time, couldn't care less. The oldest, however, was 5 and absolutely loved it. Her favorite park was Magic Kingdom (surprise, surprise, am I right?). My husband and I decided that the oldest and I should go back next June... yeah, June of 2018. I'm jumping the gun a little.

We're going June 10-15, so it'll be four days in the parks. I think that she would love to go to MK twice (we went three times last time we went, and she made me ride it's a small world every... stinking... time... ) I talked to my husband about getting a Park Hopper and, frugal man that he is, he was less than enthralled by that idea.

So my question to you is, which park would you decide to skip? The problem I'm running in to is that she loved something about all of the parks. She loved Test Track and FEA at Epcot, the Frozen Sing-Along and Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios, and The Killimanjaro Safaris and It's Tough to be a Bug at Animal Kingdom.

I will be getting her input when it gets closer to time to go, but as I obviously like to plan way too far in advance, I'm trying to get my thoughts in order. So I ask, which park would you skip?

Thanks!

Which park to skip is such a personal decision in that there are so many factors to consider. My DW could easily skip Hollywood Studios where my DD and I love it (I can really do ANY of the parks). The things she DID like at DHS are no longer there (Drawing mostly).

So you should really poll the family on that one.

Also, on the Park Hopper, I am with your DH as well.. Frugal, yes... but really there is enough in EVERY park (in my mind anyway) to keep one occupied for a full day. With the exception of maybe spending a day in one park to want to do a dinner in another, I (personally) don't see the value in the hopper. (that being said I currently have an AP and it doesn't matter at this point). Also when considering the the Hopper, keep in mind that you should really plan on an HOUR for travel time in between parks or other destinations when you figure the exit time... transportation time... re-entry/security time, etc.... I just find it hard to truly justify it.

We have 2 kids, and also don't do the park hoppers. I know some people love it, and maybe some of them are close enough they can go more often, but we can only go every 2 years or so. And I also feel like there is enough to do at each park to make each park a one day park, and that money can be applied to little souvenirs or saving for next trip. While I'm sure your oldest daughter will be able ot enjoy just about everything, and would love a lot of the stuff at Holloywood Studios, from experience, our last two trips with our youngest kind of stunk at Hollywood Studios. The ONLY thing he could do really was meet the characters, and watch the Disney Jr. Show, and go on toy story mania with our FP, because without it, it was too long a wait with a restless 2 year old, so I was with him, just wandering around, trying to keep him happy while Dad and the big one rode rides and saw shows. The other parks seem to have more that the little people can join in on.

If I had to skip a park, it would be AK. That's not because I dislike it (the Safari and Kali are probably in my top ten favorite attractions), but there are just aspects to the other parks I/we would be more disappointed to miss.

Normally I would say Hollywood Studios, but June of 2018 Toy Story Land may be open and that might be pretty appealing to a 5/6 year old. That makes it a tough decision.

With 4 days in the parks, you really don't have to skip any of them. I would just sort of do a loose plan to do all 4 and then play it by ear when you get there. If ya'll just have so much fun at MK you just have to do it another day, ask her which one she would like to skip and add MK later in the trip. You can grab last minute FPs no problem.

If the construction is still going on at both SW Land and TS land, then I would skip DHS if you had to skip a park. Even though I have small kids, I can only take so much MK, and I find the other parks more mellow. The kids will find fun stuff at every park. My ODD loved Soarin (EP), Star Tours (DHS), and the Safari and the Lion King shows at AK as much as she liked anything at MK.

So we are big fans of park hoppers so my answer may be a little skewed....But I would skip DHS. There just isn't enough there to justify a full day.

I would normally say AK or HS, but with the new stuff open/opening, it would be hard to say. As of 'now', I would skip HS.

Of course other factors needed to be considered is "What is under construction/renovation?" at the time of your trip.

I would skip AK. It is my least favorite park. It's big and I swear there is never a breeze. Rides are spread apart. We skipped AK in 2008 and I don't regret it. We typically only spend one am there.

With four park days, I would NEVER consider skipping a park. As OP said, there were things her daughter liked about each park. I understand wanting a second day at MK. Since you are planning so far out, is there any way to squeeze out a fifth day? If not I would just go with one day for each park.

Unless your daughter is a Star Wars fan, Hollywood Studios. There just wasn't much there and we had a hard time coordinating show times without a lot of wait in between.

If she is a Star Wars fan, it is a must do, and I would skip Epcot. I personally love the World Showcase, but both KidCot and Agent P were a bust for my kids.

Since you are getting hopper passes, pick the pack with the least must-do's and do that one morning or afternoon.

This is where Disney gets you . There are must do attractions in each park which makes it so tough for so many of us to decide which one to skip. Even with the closures and construction at HS, our family still enjoys enough there that it still ended up being a very full day for us there on our last trip. Like pp said, this is such a personal decision. With only four days and the fact that you are leaning towards two days at MK, I'd be inclined to consider hoppers (from your post it sounded like your DH wasn't thrilled with the extra cost of this). If hoppers are out of the question and you definitely have to skip one, then I would make a list of you and your daughter's favorite things in each park and skip the one with the shortest list. Good luck :thumbsup2.

We just got back from a trip this May. It was HOT. June will be even worse. I think the worst park for heat is AK, so while I really like that park (and honestly I'm not a fan of HS at all), that is definitely the one I would choose to skip in June. It felt almost suffocating there. I think HS would be the better choice with more options to get inside for shows and cool down.

We always skip AK and have never regretted it. HS is a half day for us, with Toy Story Mania being our main attraction and Sci-Fi for lunch, so we couldn't skip that park. Epcot and MK are must-dos, in my opinion.

Good Luck!
