Which park to go to on your Birthday?

My wife and I are going to be in Disney World over my 23 birthday on Sept. 29. This will be my wife's first trip ever and my first trip there in over 10 years. My wife has no desire to go to Disney and doesn't think she'll have a good time (little does she know ;) ). Our first day in the parks will be on Sept. 28 and I was thinking that we should hit Magic Kingdom so she can get a good taste of how great Disney World is. My plans were to go to EPCOT on the next day (my birthday), but I am not sure that it is better to spend my birthday in EPCOT than in Magic Kingdom? From what I have read elsewhere it sounds like you might get a few more suprises in Magic Kingdom with a birthday button than in EPCOT? So which park would all of you recommend to spend your birthday in? Or should I get a button and wear it all days? :cool1: I also hear that the Cinderella Princess Breakfast is a good one to do for a man on his birthday, but I am probablly too late to book it now :confused3 Anyhow I would be glad to get some suggestions?

I celebrated the big (not really) 30 there and this year I'll turn 32 on property. I went to the MK for 30 as it just seemed like the right thing to do. We had dinner in the Castle (CRT), all the magical things I would think of for Disney. We had a fabulous time!

This time around though I think we're going to go to EPCOT. We don't go for PHs so we choose a parka day. EPCOT is my favorite of the parks and I'm leaning towards eating at the Biergarten, which is my favorite restaurant on property. Yet I wonder if I'll feel as special there as I would if I went to the MK, just thinking of the MK as the classic magical park.

We just got back from celebrating my DS 5th and my DH's 40th bday and on both those days we were at the MK! I left the choice for my DH up to him and since he's a big kid at heart that's what he chose! As far as the birthday buttons go, all the parks have them and they both wore them the entire time we were there. They got lots of extra attention and some really cool things that happened! Don't be shy...make sure everybody knows it's your birthday, make sure it's on your room reservations and on any and all meal reservations you have. Although it may be hard, I would still continue to check on CRT if that's what you would like to do. Since they now have the lunch available for character interaction I think it makes it a little easier to secure a reservation. Besides...there is always a chance that someone will cancel their reservation. No matter what you decide...enjoy and Happy Birthday! There isn't a better place in the world to spend your special day!

My boyfriend and I just spent my 40 something birthday down there in May of this year. We did MK on my actually birthday. We had lunch in the castle (this was before they started the character lunch). I had a birthday button and received a large cupcake and a magical momements certificate at lunch. We also got the best seat in the house - center window looking at the carousel.

I got a birthday button the day before my birthday from Downtown Disney and went to 'Ohanas for dinner. My boyfriend told them when we checked in about my birthday and I received a small cake and all the CM singing happy birthday. We then went over to the beach to watch Wishes.

The day after my birthday we spent in Epcot. I, of course, wore my button from Epcot. We did the Princess Storybook Breakfast in Norway and received alot of attention from the Princesses. Although we did like this breakfast, we felt it was too expensive for what you got. I know the whole idea is the princesses but all you got was scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potato casserol and rolls. I am sorry we did not do the lunch. For about $2.00 more you get alot more food + the princesses. We did a late lunch in LeCeller in Canada and received the best desert. It was a solid chocolate shell in the form of a cup, filled with chocolate mouse and topped with fresh blueberries, rasberrries and sauce. It was wonderful. I also received a birthday card signed by all the CM from Canada.

Another thing you could do would be to go to MK and hop over to Epcot for a little while. We actually did this on my birthday because the Flower and Garden Festival was going on and it was the last day Tower of Power was performing and my boyfriend really wanted to see them. We went over in the afternoon, watched the concert, tried to get on Soarin' (forgetaboutit with the line and all FP given out for the whole day), rode TT single line and then headed back to MK for their nightime festivities.

Whatever you do have a wonderful birthday.

thanks for all the great suggestions...... I'll have to agree that no matter which park I am at it will be a GREAT BIRTHDAY!!!

We are going for my DD 7th & DS 6th birthdays this fall. I left the choice of what park to go to on their actual birthdays. They both picked MK.

I hope to be able to celebrate my October birthday someday at WDW but as a teacher it probably won't happen! But, if I could I would love to wake up at WDW and catch the first Disney bus to the Magic Kingdom. Walking around that corner onto Main Street and looking at that beautiful castle on my birthday . . . it just wouldn't get any better than that!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

I'm going to be there for my 21st Birthday (Dec 15!) and I can 'see' myself being in EPCOT, but who knows.. ;)

(and I will NOT be wearing the button except on my actual birthday, but that's a personal choice)

I would spend my birthday in my favorite park. From what I've read here, the birthday button mostly gets you a lot of good wishes, not a whole lot of tangible benefits. So don't pick a park based on potential surprises, or you might be disappointed if they don't materialize. Go to your favorite park and enjoy yourself. You'll have a great birthday, surprises or not.

:bday:
:cake: :cake:

If your wife isn't into Disney (yet), starting her off with the MK may not be the best way to go anyway. My mother didn't like MK (didn't really want to go to Disney with us, just did it to be with GS) but she LOVED  AK, and really liked the food and wine festival at EPCOT, MGM was a hit also. So think about what your DW is into, animals AK, movies MGM, travel World Showcase etc. Do that your first day to really get her into it, then spend your special day at MK like you want. Happy Birthday!
