Which park to do a split day?

Staying three nights at RPR. We plan to arrive by lunch our first day and we're thinking of doing one of the parks (UO or IOA) the first day and then going back to the same park the day we leave (heading to St Pete Beach in later afternoon).

So my question is ... which park would you split in half days - UO or IOA ??? We will be doing a full day at the other park and another day at Wet N Wild.

If I had to split a park, I would look first at what I wanted out of the parks.

I'm a thrill junkie, so if I had to choose a park to split, it would be US as that portion of the park I could easily do in a couple of hours (with FOTL) as the rides that I would want to do are minimal in comparison to IOA.

However, if you have a family that isn't in to those thrill rides/HP, etc, I would maybe spend more time at US. It would depend what you want out of your time at the parks.

My thoughts on this are if you go to Islands of Adventure the day you get there, you can hit WWOHP at night time, and possibly get it all done. However, if you don't get it all done, then you can go early entry on the day you go in the morning. This way you can try to go to Harry Potter after the crowds die down at night, but if the crowds don't die down that much, then you still have a morning to get it done.

I think it depends on what you're looking for. If you want coasters and more thrills that afternoon, head over to IOA and see what you can do. WWoHP will be busy but as others have said, you could wait until evening to do that. If you just want to walk around and do a few things, you might head to the Studios and save IOA for the full day. You'll have unlimited Express since you're staying onsite so you should be able to do everything you want at the Studios in an afternoon.

jmho, i'd skip Wet N Wild entirely & devote the time to Universal.

if you're staying 3 nights onsite, why not do another 1/2 day in the parks before you leave & head down to St Pete's late afternoon

disclaimer: i'm all about the parks lol

Agreed:goodvibes

Thanks everyone - We're going to get a 3-day pass (great prices through mousesavers - that way we'll have one day at each park and another 1/2 to do whichever one everyone liked best (prob. IOA).

I agree with this also! The cost difference between a 3 and 4 day pass is very small -- just a few dollars if you're doing undercover through mousesavers. Skipping the waterpark will also allow you to go at the parks at a much more leisurely pace. If you get hot at the parks in the afternoon, you can head back to the RPR which has a wonderful pool. Spend your time in the parks and at the pool!
