Which park on a rainy day?

We’re heading down this weekend and it looks like rain for our first few days, hoping the weather changes but what park would you recommend for a really rainy day? We’ve always been so lucky with the weather on our past trips so never really took this into consideration. Our planned days for now are for a universal/IOA day and Epcot the next but if we have to change it it’s not too big of a deal... We have two boys, 5 and almost 2, APs to Disney and universal, and we’re staying off property central to both and renting a car if that makes any difference... thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Sounds odd, but I love MK and AK on a rainy day, so long as it’s just rain and no storms. Keeps the temps and crowds down a bit. MK has more shelter, generally speaking.

Messing with ponchos (and in your case, likely a stoller) is sort of annoying so you / your things don’t get totally soaked, but not that big of a deal.

Have fun!

I would say either MK or AK. Lots of indoor options at MK, so that's a bonus. But we got stuck in the rain at AK and I thought it was great as it made a lot of people leave and made the animals more active. I was delighted by how many animals we saw compared to other trips. If I were to see rain in the forecast, I would probably personally pick AK - and would of course go into it well prepared with good rain gear.

Also....keep in mind that just because it's raining at one park, doesn't necessarily mean that it's raining at all parks. It's worth checking to see if all parks are affected.

EP. All of the rides are inside (except TT) and most of the FW rides have interactive games at the end so you can stay indoors and still have fun!

I like Epcot only because the single best day I have had at WDW was during our 2012 trip. It rained steady all day and everyone but my daughter in out group stayed at the hotel. I got to spend an entire day with her alone while she shopped and the park was so empty it wasn't funny. We hit every character spot and had a great time. The characters can spend more time with you when it really gets empty.

Epcot was our best park during the week of Matthew when it rained like crazy.

You can spend a lot of time indoors there. The Living Seas, the museums in Mexico and China, the Land, etc. It has the most indoor attractions IMO.

We just came back from a trip and it rained on one of our days. We went to MK. Once the rain started the park emptied out and wait times were minimal. We arrived at 3pm and had a dinner reservation. We rode everything at least twice. On Big Thunder rode twice in a row without having to get off the train. Rode 7dwarves x 2 during fireworks and it was walk on. Absolutely the best trip ever! I hope it rains during all of our trips going forward!

We will also be there next week. Monday is our 1st MK day and our first ever SDMT FP. Thunderstorms and 100% chance of rain. Sigh. I hope it clears before our FP. They are supposed to be transitioning to scattered in the evening so fingers crossed.

I like AK in the rain! Especially the safari, the animals seem to be more active those days. My husband always tries to get me to switch to AK if its raining out because it's his favorite too but fastpasses and ADRs usually prevent that unfortunately :rolleyes1

WS at Epcot for us with all the shopping, rides, movies, dining & drinking options we can spend hours enjoying ourselves & stay relatively dry.
