Which park is best for a rainy day?

I'm looking at our 10 day forecast for next week and I see one of our days, Monday, there is a 50% chance for rain. My question is, which park should we go to on the rainy day? Does it matter? We are only going to MK, Epcot, and HS. I know we are going to enjoy MK the most. MK is most recommended for that day, but I am considering swapping this out because we want to go on a non party day so we can stay until close and see wishes.

Any input would be appreciated.

Oh, and fastpasses aren't an issue to consider. Haven't booked them yet (I know, GASP). Going to pick up tickets today at the ITR office today.

Weather forecasts are notoriously incorrect this far out, so there is still a chance it'll change a lot by the time that day rolls around. I was tracking the weather forecast for my recent trip and it was almost funny seeing how much it changed day-by-day. I remember one day started at 80% chance then dropped to 10% then went up to 50% and ended up being dry! Basically, until that day started, it was hard to know what would happen! Also, I've found when the weather says there is a chance of rain, it more often than not means scattered showers, not continuously rain all day long.

I guess I would probably opt for either Epcot or DHS on a rainy day. I'd pick the park you have with the most indoor shows planned, that way you can (hopefully) weather out the rain inside somewhere dry.

We are going to be there next week too. I wouldn't put to much stock in the weather forecast just yet. Living in a sub-tropical climate myself I know that the forecast is not all that predictable.

We have Epcot planned for Monday. I think Epcot is probably a pretty good rainy day park. A lot of the attractions and shows are indoors and lengthy. Also Innovations probably bores a lot of people to tears for instance but my daughter will love it.

We have 8 available park days for our trip and are hoping for at least 5 good weather days. Weather was one of the reasons we decided to stay offsite in a large two bedroom suite with kitchen, living room ect. I figured if we had downtime it would be much more pleasant.

We had a very wet week for our trip in September. MK was definitely easiest for us in the bad weather since there are so many indoor rides. We stayed in a particular land and ran from ride to ride. HS was a downpour all day which made it somewhat difficult, but I think it would be ok if the rain isn't severe. Epcot was the biggest let down as far as rain because we couldn't enjoy WS and Test Track was shut down. :( Although some may disagree, I would say MK or HS is best for a wet day. Have fun!

Epcot Future World is good in the rain, because there are 2-3 different attractions inside most of the pavilions. So you can get a couple things in before you have to go outside again. (If you go this route, I'd try to end up in the Land pavilion around lunch time so you can eat at Sunshine Seasons. Delicious, and no running through the rain to get food.) World Showcase is a little more difficult, though; it's not very pleasant to stroll the countries in the rain.

MK is also do-able in the rain, although some of the outdoor rides (7DMT, Splash Mtn, BTMRR, Barnstormer) may get closed in a heavy downpour or if there's lightning.

If you have Park Hoppers, I'd suggest doing the morning/afternoon in Future World then hopping to MK for evening entertainment. Rains in FL typically happen in the afternoon. During the summer, you can almost set your watch by it.

If you are on the go people like we are, I think MK is good... you can get from attractions, stores, meet and greets, ect easily, "rain leapfrogging" your way from place to place, without having to stay in the same place for too long, since everything is so close together... where as HS and Epcot Future World everything is really spaced out (even if 1-3 attractions are in the same building)... I also think Epcot World Showcase is good for "rain leapfrogging".... :bounce:

I would definitely say Epcot would be the best as long as you don't get stuck in the World Showcase. Future World has a lot of long attractions that can withstand the downpours. You have Innoventions that can take some time and the Land you could easily spend over an hour in. There are many possible locations in Epcot. IMHO.

My thoughts exactly! ::yes::

This day is giving me fits too with the rain prediction, we are going to HS that day becuase we have an ADR, but I will be so sad if we can't enjoy the Osborne Lights becuase of rain.

Agree with posters suggesting MK simply because everything is so close together. If you really don't want to do MK, EPCOT would be my second choice because there is a lot of indoor stuff to do. :thumbsup2

And, FWIW, we bought our ponchos at Walgreens instead of in the parks. They're the same quality (without the Disney logo) and about 1/2 the price.

We were at Epcot on our rainy day. We just took ponchos. We had a great time.

Thanks for all the input! It made me feel better about the rain. I didn't want to miss out on rides that close for rain. Putting final plans together now. That is if I can ever get all of the tickets scanned into MDE.....

I can tell you that HS is definitely not best for a rainy day. I got stuck there during a torrential downpour and couldn't walk 15 feet without hearing thunder and getting scared. I have to agree with those who say MK. Everything is close together and there are a lot of indoor rides. Plus, Mickey's Rainy Day Cavalcade is super cute ;)

I was just looking up weather for next week too. I have Epcot planned for the 50% rain on Monday. I am going to stick with it. We can always just do the land pavilion for awhile to wait out showers. Luckily we have more than one day in each park, so rain won't be the end of the world.

Ugh, I have AK planned for next Monday. Will EE run in the rain? FOTLK is inside, right? I've never seen it. Will the animals be out and visible in the rain on the safari?

ETA: Weather Channel and Wunderground are now showing only 30% chance of rain next Monday. :)

We went last January where it rained three days straight (and was cold too!). On the plus side crowds were super low. However best idea I ever did was bring rain pants and a poncho. Rain pants were fantastic for all the seats that were wet - we rode all the rides - and didn't get soaked! Not ideal but was definitely able to make the best out of the crappy weather. We're going in a few weeks and keeping fingers crossed that this time we don't get too much rain.

Of all our trips, our rainy AK was one of the best. We were literally the only people on one of the paths! The safari was unbelievable. The animals were playing and frolicking-absolutely breathtaking to watch. Giraffes running, elephants spraying water-soooo memorable! We ducked into Bug's Life and some stores to dry a little and reset. We also had a great time in the MK-same reason of lower crowds-and EPCOT too!

At DHS we got absolutely soaked in the SoA, but heck, we now have new muppet t shirts!

All in all-amazing memories for their own reasons! Pack accordingly, know your schedule might change a bit and have a blast!

We were in Animal Kingdom once when a rain storm came thru and it was awful. EE and Kali Rapids both shut down, so everybody who had a FP+ for those two rides got an open FP+, which caused the fastpass lines for everything else to be longer than normal standby lines. Fortunately we had park hoppers, so we hopped a bus to Disney Studios and it was a bit better.:)
