Which Park in the Rain?

We'll be there Sat, April 2 - Sat, April 9. Well, technically the 3rd - 8th (we have 10 hrs travel so that first & last day don't really count). The extended forecast says it will be raining on Mon & Tues. Which park would be better in the rain...MK or HS? We aren't staying in the park, so leaving for a while is not an option.

I can tell you first hand- from much experience to not put too much into the forcast for rain. When we were there in September for 11 days, it said 80% chance almost every day, and it only rained twice, and once was only 10 minutes. We are going the same week as you and I wouldn't count on rain untill the day or two before if it still says it. But we always go to HS if it rains. It seem like everything is inside, and not too far apart.

I think it depends on if you are avoiding the rain, or the crowds. We usually do MK if it rains. Simple strategy...less people if it rains. If you are trying to stay out of the rain, i would suggest HS, more indoor activities/rides. Either way, bring some rain boots, and a rain poncho from home. The rain gives everything a new experience.

Have fun & I hope your only showers are of pixie dust. :tink::tink:

We don't mind being in the rain, just as long as it isn't a LOT of rain. Our 3 & 8 yr old girls will be with us, so they'll have fun in the rain, but once they're soaking wet attitudes tend to go downhill pretty quickly. As long as it's just a quick shower that needs a poncho, we'll be fine. But thunderstorms, etc. are a different story.

It rained, I mean monsoon for 4 days out of the 9 during our honeymoon. They were the best days ever. Low crowds and while we were went ducks when we went back to our room and only got to hit the pool twice, completely skipped the water park we had a blast those days. We found Epcot and magic kingdom to be great because most rides are inside.

I actually like MK in the rain. It is cooler, less people and once your wet what is going to happen. Spring rain is different than summer rain. In Florida it will rain every day at 3 or 4 for 30 min or so in the summer. Spring rain can and will happen all day long. It started raining today at 5am and it is still raining now at 1pm. But forecast is still awhile out for next week. You never know what could happen!

Have fun! A rainy day at Disney is better than a sunny day at school or work!

I agree with all of the previous posters. Rain is fun pending it's not a bitter cold rain like here in Chicago. I would choose MK for a rainy day. Most of the queues are covered and there are plenty of shops to stop in if it starts storming. We got married in WDW last April and it was raining at 5am til about 9am then it was beautiful for our ceremony at 10am through our reception until about 330pm. At 4 it was overcast, started thundering and lightning (which caused our Illuminations Dessert Party to be moved indoors). Then it rained all evening! So definitely pack some ponchos! But you will be fine. :thumbsup2 Water never hurt anyone...except the Wicked Witch of the West.

I recommend MK because as PP's have said there are many indoor queues and the attractions are pretty close to each other.

Epcot, OTOH, requires a lot of walking from attraction to attraction or country to country, so a torrential downpour might cause you to be stuck someplace. Not so bad in The Land, but running around the World Showcase to get to an ADR on the other side of the lagoon might not be so fun...

Pep- Don't get too freaked about the storms. They can be funif you are prepared

I highly suggest that you make sure that you get a stroller cover for rain and some ponchos and then dance away in the puddles!

I have found that keeping rain stuff in a separate bag that can be easily grabbed from under the stroller or from your larger bag is essential. That way you can get rain gear on the fastest. On days where rain is predicted, I put the rain cover on the stroller everytime I parked it. You never knew when a storm will blow through. I also like to carry a small chamois cloth, incase I need to wipe up chairs or benches post rain

and finally, a large garbage bag is nice to have to throw over the stroller for the bus ride home, so the wheels don't soak you even more!

I have lived in Florida my whole life. Grew up in Orlando. Rain days can be some of the best. MK is great since everything is close together. HOwever I can tell you it was forcasted to rain here in tampa the last two days and not a drop. Florida is always a gamble. Enjoy.
